If the plowing stops, I say stop all government charity...like welfare and HD TV subsidies.

Naturally they have no problem taking those church goers tax
money and putting in a hundred bogus liberal projects.

Naturally the next major town wide emergency or disaster that requires food, clothing or shelter for victims.. the churches will be expected to open their doors to those the town sends to them...

I assume this is done because they don't pay property taxes, and property tax is what finances the snow plows.

I pay taxes, too....why don't they plow my driveway for free as well?
To: frankjr
Ernest Godbout I wonder if that is his real name.
Per an online dictionary: bout (n) 1. A contest between antagonists;
So would a Godbout be one who fights with God?

I was under the impression that parking lots were plowed by the city (every time I go up north, everything seems to be magically plowed after a snowstorm). I will confess I have no idea, I just sort of assumed that was how it worked. We don't have much need for snowplows in Miami.

That's what it was all about to begin with.

Hmm...let's see. I pay taxes on my property. The city does not plow my driveway, although they do plow the street in front of my house...sometimes...maybe...
The churches don't pay property taxes, yet the city was plowing their parking lots. I have a problem with this. The churches are privately owned organizations. Let their membership cover the cost of snow removal.
Same with the American Legion hall and every other outfit in town. This has nothing to do with religion.
Now, if the city wants to come and plow my driveway, then I'll be fine with them plowing the church parking lots. That'll happen. You bet.

The city and "legal counsel" just rolled over because there was mention that the complaint had been 'shared with the ACLU"?
Did they even wait for a legal threat?

Plowing snow is big business up north....business pay to have their lots plowed. I know that our church does as well, as it should.
Heck, were happy if the township/county/state does their job and plows the roads they should.
To: MineralMan
Maybe it was just a nicety that the DPW workers extended as a general expression of community and good neighborliness towards a group that they thought were also helpful in the community.
God forbid.
