"...suspects..."
There's no evidence. None, apparently other than this man's suspicions/paranoias.
I'm sure that for every one of these guys there are hundreds under similar cirumstances that simply get PO'd b/c a "good" check doesn't get approved for some reason, and understandably so. But to call the guy a racist for that really tells me that the guy's more racist than the one he just called it.
Yeah, but on the way out you could not drop your change in the Salvation Army Kettle because Target banned them from in front of their stores ....
LOL
I lived in DC for years, until recently. So yes, I share your experience. In fact, VA, a once conservative stronghold, is growing more and more liberal by the month is seems.
But they didn't call the cops on you , did they ?
According to other articles on this matter that have been posted on FR, this company bought WalMart gift cards like this every year, and had previously had no problem (all of the company representatives who went into the store in previous years were white). And apparently someone from the company had called the store prior to the visit to confirm that someone would be arriving to make the gift card purchase, and was told that there would be no problem.
Given that, I really can't say that this is just race-baiting and a hullabaloo about nothing.
Let me ask you Mike, suppose the same thing had happened, and I'm sure it does, routinely, to someone not black? And pray tell, how come every time, it seems, something like this happens, it's always a black person on the "receiving" end? Thoughts?
How come there aren't report after report of this occurring to Vietnamese, Chinese, Brazilians eg., Russians, or any other division?
Also, please do tell, how does "suspician" on the part of someone without a shred of evidence, again, limited to the information in the article, become fact? Can you tell me whether this guy had ESP or some other way of reading that manager's mind?
Considering all that, why is it that it couldn't have simply been an honest dunderheaded mistake? And how will a multi-million dollar, no doubt, lawsuit make things right for this man? Will it change the character of the man behind the counter if he's not in fact racist?
Inquring minds want to know.
AMEX, money order, certified check, direct wire transfer???
I know I wouldn't try to pass a check of that amount without making prior arrangements.
Some people have issues. If it makes fruitbat feel any better about black folks suing, my mother has been in situations where she could have sued but didn't. FB you need to come out from your little tin foil hideyhole and get a fricking life about your pet theories of black people.
I don't have to answer to you.
YOU are the one with the stupid/crazy theories about how "black man get rich" in your stupid previous rant.
YOU TELL ME what the hell ANY of that meant moonbat.
And we all know you're making more than your contribution in that regard...
Corporate crdit card? It says he was buying the gift cards for his employees. Heck, even a middle-class nobody like me could foot that on a credit card which is easy to verify for funds.
Now THAT would be good customer service!
Agreed. The Wal-Mart guy could have and should have just refused the (unverifiable) check. He could have just requested certified funds. I wonder if the "privacy block" was present in the other years when the GAF check was accepted.
Meanwhile, what kind of pinhead calls the cops for presentation of a check?
There's not going to be any "lawsuit". There are no grounds for a lawsuit. The Manager was in no way "racist" in his actions. He simply made an error in judgement to call the Police regarding the nature and amount of the check. Walmart took care of it. Manager is gone. Next time customer should order COD or furnish the store with a Cashier's check, or alert his Bank Manager for such a large amount to be verified.
Duh.
I remember, around 1989, writing a $500 check at K-Mart....it required a call from the check-out person to the manager, who then placed a call to somewhere else.
Of course, I'm white, so I didn't think they were being racist.
How about 'For some reason I can't verify the check. Can I deliver them to your company myself later today?'
Just proves that all white people are racist. How do I know? Cause they're white.
And that's not a racial stereotype because........
Fruitbat doth protest too much, methinks.
Granted, the HR manager is overreacting. And the Wal-Mart manager did not have to call the police. GAF and this particular Wal-Mart had previously done business like this.
Yet you automatically went into sixth gear over the racial component. Whose problem is that?
Yours.
