You know that the minute these kind of meetings end, Bono goes back to his buddies and they laugh their asses off about the novelty of Bono being able to have others take him so seriously.

Then, they go back to bedding groupies and tearing up hotel-rooms...

I'm not suprised.. Bono is less of a Marxist than people label him- he is just misguided on what will help poor nations (the debt relief is completely baseless...) He actually seems to lean more towards the conservatives in the US than the libs, showing up at the Republican convention, dining with President Bush and various members of his cabnet.. let's not even go into his scathing remarks about Hillary when she tried to turn a U2 concert into a political fund raiser...

Bono is actually quite serious about his political work and outspokenly Christian.

How noble! Who cares if it doesn't work, and it robs taxpayers, and ends up triggering civil wars throughout Africa - he cares and he wants to make a difference!

"Me! Me! Everyone look at me!"

U2 also puts their money where their mouth is.. giving upwards of 25% of their profits to their pet causes..

Actually, that is pretty cool.

I don't doubt Bono's sincerity over it all, nor that of Jesse Helms.

"fighting AIDS in Africa"

I presume that this is accomplished by confiscating "donations" from uninfected Americans. Why else would Bono get politicians involved?

BTW, has Bono submitted any suggestions for stopping the root cause of AIDS? Hmmmmm?

I didn't think so. What a caring guy. Music does make a difference! Whatever.

"It was nothing fancy," Dodd said. "They ate in the cafeteria with the roadies and the rest of the crew."

And Helms has satisfied his lifelong dream of being a roadie for just one day.

Bingo. Where does this guy actually fall. He seems to be quite unfocused.

"Bono is actually quite serious about his political work and outspokenly Christian."

He even seems very smart about it, too. With a Republican in the WH and running both legislative houses, he goes to them.

And they express interest in working with him. Kudos to Bono, Helms and Bush.
What a novelty. Adult behavior. Civility.

Bono’s Deaf on Africa
Trade, not aid, is the answer.

Did they go to a movie, or maybe back to Jesse's place afterwards?
