I agree -- everyday Americans need to see this.
The other night on the news, they flashed a pic of Mullah Omar... your tag was the first thing that came to mind.
It irritates me too that they don't use the rest of Kerry's quote... "the Iraqi's should be doing that." What a maroon.
"What's all this talk I'm hearing about waving a white fag? That's very mean. I don't care if Barney is a sissy boy. What's that? White FLAG not fag? Well that's different. Nevermind." -Emily Latella
And you know, if the stupid Rats wouldn't go national ape sh!t over these type ads, no one would ever know they exist.
lol
Great picture. I love the detail. When I study the picture I pick up 'Rats I missed at first glance.
I haven't actually been able to view this ad. I keep getting some "can't find codex" error or some such from windows (no surprise there).
Now before I get jumped on by a bunch of windows zealots and computer geeks wanting to help me fix this problem, I just want to say I don't think the problem lies in my computer.
The problem lies in the Republican Party. They need to fix this ad at their end. I think it's a format problem.
The Republican Party needs to convert this ad from windows format to NTSC so I (and millions of other Americans) can see this ad on television.
Internet advertiesments? Please. Why do they always pull their punches? I swear, sometimes I think the Republican Party leadership needs a quick kick in the butt and a short lesson on street fighting.
Where did'ya come up with that screen-name 'darlin?
I just E-mailed the following to Mr. Dickerson. We will see whether I get a response:
Mr. Dickerson,
Your 12 December essay is intellectually dishonest.
You object to using the actual words of the politicians in question to
point out that they are saying reprehensible things? That's a shame! The
fact is, THEY SAID THOSE THINGS... I heard the entire Kerry statement,
including the next line that you quote. Guess what - it doesn't change
the context at all! In fact, you should be disturbed with that line,
implying that the Iraqi soldiers should be the ones to "terrorize kids and
women in the middle of the night" (my paraphrase).
I wish that columnists like you would report an honest story. You have to
know that the Democratic politicians in question, and many more who are
not quoted in the ad, make the statements they do for purely partisan
political reasons. They don't seem to care what message they share with
the world, as long as it casts a negative spin on the administration. I
can't decide if they are truly so blinded by the political points that
they don't realize the harm they do, or they DO have a desire to see the
United States fail in Iraq.
I especially take issue with this statement:
"The RNC is pimping a mute and unnamed soldier not just to defend the Iraq
war but to imply that Democrats are white-handkerchief-waving cowards who
want the United States to lose."
The RNC doesn't have to imply that. These Democrats are proving it every
time they open their mouths in front of cameras.
It conveys that impression. It does not purport to depict actual film of that.
The commercial is an illustration. The troops have heard these words of weakness, and they are demoralized/baffled by it.
Crying "fraud" is silly.
The Left is whining = the ad is working!
Nice job.
Works for me!
"pre-doctoring" web ads...the horror!! You'd think they were trying to make a ...gasp...political statement!!!
Then by all means, let;s not IMPLY anything...Let me come right out and say that Democrats ARE white-handkerchief-waving cowards who want the United States to lose.
It would be interesting if some folks knew the difference between a noun and a verb.
Only Slate can be that stupid. Say what you want, the ad clearly reflects the tone, text and attidude toward our troops and the current Iraq battle front.
With Slate, the truth hurts.
