Well, I guess history DOES repeat itself, 140 years later!

Absolutely! Let's repost that same snippet with just a few edits:

But Clinton was a confused, indecisive president, who may have made a war with Islamic radicals inevitable by trying to appease or negotiate with them. His actions probably constituted treason. It also did not help that his administration was as corrupt as any in history...

He was the guy who in 2001 passed on the mess to the first Republican president of the 21st century, George W. Bush.

It's hard to take a columnist seriously who doesn't even know that LINCOLN was president when Fort Sumter was attacked. (april 1861) - And in a column about presidential history, no less.

That caught my eye, too.

Guys like Reeves have done the same thing with Bush. Never mind that the dot-com bubble had burst before Bush was even elected, the bad economy that he inherited was his fault. Now that the economy is on solid ground, pundits grouse that it has no foundation. It was Clinton who directed the disastrous Oslo Peace Accords, who wanted to treat terrorism as a crime, looked the other way when bin Ladin attacked us, and gave nukes to the North Koreans. Bush is the man who's having to clean up all of Clinton's mistakes.

That's only because he's got a 20 year head-start on Clinton.

Certainly Kennedy belongs on this list. Kennedy initiated
most of the disastrous policies of LBJ.

Yep, Clinton does have time to overtake Carter for the title.

The worst ever - Jimmy Carter. We're STILL cleaning up his mess in the Middle East.

In fifty years, Clinton will be seen as a Buchanan-like figure and Bush as a Lincoln-like figure. And these leftist weasels know it, thus the attempt to sully Bush's reputation as much as possible today. They've seen, to their horror, the general approbation which Ronald Reagan is now accorded, something they couldn't have imagined in their darkest nightmares back in 1987. The thought that Bush is in line to get the same treatment sends them into ankle-biting hysterics.

The answer is so obvious that 90% should agree on it being Carter. The worst person to be president is also obvious, Bill Clinton.

You pretty much summed up my reaction. All these "reasons" why W is the worst president in history are nothing but subjective, uninformed partisan talking points, bereft of any factual support. All this column really proves is that we now have the worst crop of so-called "historians" in history.

I can't believe that you can decide between these two. I was only six when Carter was president, but still hated sitting in the car waiting for gas. YUK! President Clinton never made me miss playing outside. President Carter sucked!!!!! President Clinton was an immoral guy who at least had a decent economy. At least my Mutual Funds did extraordinarily well.

I have talked with three significant historians in the past few months who would not say it in public, but who are saying privately that Bush will be remembered as the worst of the presidents.

Hardly. This author's list of complaints is fantasy and better describes Bill Clinton's Presidency than George W.'s. But even Clinton has to bow to Jimmy Carter. I can't think of anyone besides Clinton who even comes close to Carter as the worst President in the 20th century.

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being worst and 10 being best, I would rate Carter as zero and Clinton as one.

No other President rates lower than 4.
