"Approximately 100,000 citizens of New Orleans do not have means of personal transportation."

----No friends obviously either. Shame all those cars in the videos didn't belong to anyone. Might want to run the VIN numbers on them and see if they were stolen since they didn't BELONG to anyone

the state and city of New Orleans had practiced hurricane disaster

-----I knew it! They planned it from the start.
sarcasm FULLY intended

But we all know that it's Bush's fault because: (1) Bush insists on actually defeating the terrorists, rather than surrendering to them, and therefore has kept some Louisiana troops busy; (2) Bush failed in his duty to prevail upon the Almighty God to weaken and deflect the storm away from New Orleans [despite the reality that Katrina miraculously DID weaken and turn from that city and would have spared it if corruption did not allow the floodgates to weaken and ultimately collapse]; and (3) Bush does not believe in mass transit and therefore did not personally evacuate the city via his own private bus and compel his Cabinet to do likewise.

The Hurricane Katrina Live Threads are haunting to go back and read.

Agree. We helplessly watched as the horror story unraveled.

With only 200 national guardsmen at the Superdome ... [to deal with] ... 10,000 [who] were trapped in the Superdome ...

If my math is correct, this is a ratio of 1:50 ... one national guardsman/caregiver to fifty "trapped" people.

Presumably, these were mostly adults.

Just out of curiosity, I took a look at the licensing requirements for daycare providers in Louisiana.

For Schoolage Children the requirement is 1:23 ... one care provider to each 23 schoolaged children. Is there a disconnect here? If these were mostly adults, should there have been the same ratio of National Guardsmen as for Schoolaged Children?

What is wrong with this picture?

Would a ratio of 1:50 have been sufficient for law abiding citizens?

We are going to miss Jeb very much after next year. He has done plenty of things right, hurricane season included. The next governor has some big shoes to fill.

It looks like there just may be too much evidence of Blanco's incompetence for even the media to spin...

... even after she has taken this long to purge the documents before releasing them!
