"What should be the procedure for checking employers?"

Let INS perform as they did in the 80s and before, continually raid businesses and deport the illegals, pick them up on the street and deport them, raid the train, bus, and airports. I worked then, it will work again if only the higher ups in the department will let it.

Similar to the '80's, doesn't the INS still conduct raids on businesses suspected of hiring illegals? However aren't the legal constraints on such investigations and raids now more strict?

Amnesty for the illegals is tantamount to saying "Laws are made to ignore".

Can anyone possibly offer any legitimate excuse for amnesty that doesn't stricly revolve around politics?

And he has a real HABIT of bending over, very often. Too bad, I don't know what else we patriotic Amercians can do to clean up Washington -- we gave a "conservative" (ha!) President two terms in the WH, and a Congressional majority to support it, and what have we gotten? Little more than what the Socialist Dems would have done TO (not for) this country...we need REAL CONSERVATISM in control in Washington and real fast!!

George W. Bush, the rhetoric is Reagan, the reality is Rockefeller.

Only ones doing work in government security areas and very few of those.

At least in So. Calif. they used to be daily and wide spread.

Now they won't even touch the thousands standing on street corners every morning and half the cities have been declared sanctuary cities by their councils.

As far as i'm concerned every council member that votes for illegal sanctuary should be jailed for harboring criminals.

President Jorge thinks we are all stupid.

It is the opposite.

“Since Bush is not likely to run again, there must be some other reason than campaign contributions.”

Forgive a small correction here. Jorge by law cannot run again. Period.

Arkansas Man Scales White House Fence

Wonder if Bush will give this guy amnesty? He doesn't seem to care how many illegals jump the U.S. border fences.

What should be the procedure for checking employers?

How about using our current laws on the books. Of course, that would mean hiring people to enforce those laws, something the Feds won't do.

Currently, Immigration Agents, of which there are less then 2000 and most don't do employer sanctions, can just show up at a place of business and audit the employers personnel records.

Now, what we need is about 10,000 more of these agents.

My point exactly. If the IRS can enforce the tax laws, the Feds can enforce the immigration laws if they choose.

Employer Sanctions Investigations are certainly down.
