"Competition from new media and a lingering feeling of bias continue to plague the paper and drive down circulation."
I should be the papers editor in chief. I guarantee I could turn the paper around in less than 6 months. How you ask?
Simple. Just report the truth, whether bad off good. My first headline? "Economy best in 20 years" Second headline: "30 Schools Rebuilt in Iraq" "Terrorists Hammered"
Then tell the story. That would increase circulation by a large number. The left keeps thinking that they are the majority. This means that 65% of the US population is not reading their crap.
They are "Democratic strongholds" because they people vote for Democrats, or do they?
If a city is corrupt, just how difficult is it really to rig an election?
We assume the elections are honest, but what if they were not. Could it be that areas like Los Angeles be conservative, but the elections are rigged so only Democrats win?
Get out of the big cities, and California is a conservative state. Why is that? Is it possible that only Liberals live in big cities and only conservatives live in the rest of the state? Or, is it more likely that it is easier to fix an election in the big cities?I don't know the answer, but it is something to think about.
"Many eyes make all bugs shallow." This phrase is famous among "open-source" computer systems enthusiasts, who seek to break Microsoft's stranglehold on operating systems. It means that the more people who view a problem, the faster it will be solved.
By the same logic, the Internet and discussion boards like Free Republic are dealing a death blow to the lying MSM. At last. The same thing should only happen to the NYTimes and the Washington comPost.
(The "all bugs shallow" quote is from Eric S. Raymond's Influential paper, The Cathedral and the Bazaar, that was published free online to discuss key differences between more traditional software development and the open-source movement in computing pioneered by Torvald Linux.)
The only reason the Times has any circulation is because The People's Republic of Santa Monica and its suburbs of West LA don't have their own local paper.
You say, "Now we see what happens when those with "Rights" become police officers!"
New Orleans comes to mind as another example of "Rights" becoming police officers.
Was there a coverup???
Maybe... maybe not...
Let the jury figure it out...
But we need to put an END to the "deep pockets" theory of litigation...
If city or police officials are guilty of a coverup,
fine, let the lawyers go after them personally.
But the taxpayers should not be held financially responsible for their misdeeds.
"Bratton has a reputation as a straight shooter...it's to his advantage to turn over all the rocks."I wouldn't question his(Bratton)integrity, but there's the issue of self preservation(job wise)at play here. The LATimes yields a great deal of power, and unfortunately good people can be intimidated.
I buy it on Sunday, but only for the store coupons.
