On the House floor, both Republicans and Democrats repeatedly gave Murtha rousing standing ovations. There was so much praise for Murtha that one of his Democratic colleagues asked him if he still had to attend Murtha's funeral. They blew so much sunshine up his @$$ that he could light the entire Eastern Seaboard all by himself!

Outstanding! Thanks for posting.
You won't find a better summation anywhere than her last sentence: If Republicans were one-tenth as rough with the congressman who wants to withdraw troops in the middle of a war as they are on a congresswoman who calls it cowardly to withdraw troops in the middle of a war, we might have a functioning Republican Party.
God how I wish this party would grow a spine.

The only Republican congressman who did not offer to have sex with John Murtha on the House floor was Jean Schmidt, R-Ohio.She is the only one with 'balls'... the rest should hang their head in shame...

Excellent. I'd dispute the point that the war is half over. The war is over when Sodom's army fell (28 days, I believe). What we're doing over there now is part of what will probably prove to be a very long WOT. They aren't soldiers we're fighting. They're terrorists.
This is a point we need to drive home to keep the left in this country from perpetuating the lie that this is a quagmire, we have no plan, etc., etc. ad nauseum.

The media has made it to where any criticism of the insane poilicy of surrender is "questioning someone's patriotism".

I second that. None of my checks go to the RNC but I'll send her one for her reelection bid.

It's the weak, overly and inappropriately respectful weinieness that made me turn in my Republican membership card. I still vote for them, and I guess that's the main thing, but I can't look at them and say to myself "yep, those are my people. I'm a Republican!" I used to in the days of Ronald Reagan, may he rest in peace with my eternal gratitude for his service in saving our nation.

It appears that what Murtha was and did as a Marine was because of the company he kept. Taken away from good and honorable men, he's a mushhead, a lacky of Pelosi and a lapdog for the Dims. Nobody questions his patriotism while he was in uniform but we certainly question his sanity since he started hanging with this bunch of cowards.

I wish you could find a way to spread your simple truths. That is the perfect place to eradicate terrorists and keep them engaged and out of our airports.

To: Plutarch
Too many Republicans have the deepseated feeling that Democrats are the true ruling class and that Republicns are only temporary usurpers who accidently got the top position. The Democrats must be constantly praised, apologized to and placated while they are in a temporary reversal.

Ann Coulter........ the Murtha love fest certainly was not a first:
And then, of course, there's Senator Edward Kennedy. And the folks at the Crawford Coffee Shop -- (laughter) -- would be somewhat shocked when I told them I actually like the fellow. (Laughter and applause.) He is a fabulous United States senator.-- President George Bush, Jan. 8, 2002
You are right, ProtectOurFreedom, most of us here wish the GOP "will grow a spine". The RATs fight with knives, bar stools, chains, and handguns. The GOP "fights" with one hand tied behind their back and with their head implanted up their butts.
This is a bitter pill to swallow, but let's be real--Bush and the GOP are very French-like.
