I met Ali in LAX several years ago. He was one of the most pathetic people I had ever encountered.

Cassius Clay is just a simpleton who grabbed islam because he thought it would make him look important.
Today he belongs to the religion of America's enemy and these medals that our president(s) passes out makes them about as worthless as a British knighthood.
(e.g. Elton John and a gaggle of other assorted weirdos.)

"Pathetic" is the exact word that crossed my mind when I met him. Pathetic, drooling, cowardly, moron.

There is no one in the world more overrated than Ali. Personally, I think he is a draft-dodging bum. Bill Clinton would love to have Ali's legacy rehabilitation program. It's working very well. I'm very disappointed that W would honor him.
To: AppyPappy
...called him "The Greatest of All Time."
Mr. President, is not a good idea to call a dodger/clown the Greatest of All Time. Do you think that the honest American People will buy the "greatness" of Muhammad Ali/ Cassius Clay? Then , what is the purpose of that show?

I never liked Ali. I thought of him as a clown and a buffoon as well as a poor sportsman. The way sportswriters and media drool over this guy is disgusting. Then they'll write about what a boor T.O. is - the modern day Ali.

The whole "finger-twirling" thing was a joke. As in W would have to be crazy to want to fight Ali. And even in Ali's situation, it's still true.
Ali simply did not deserve this award. It cheapens it. But if you are going to give the Medal of Freedom away like candy, W should also have given it to Larry Holmes. "Remember me?" says Larry, as he rears back...
