"Hey Lan! Now why didn't you ping me to this most excellant article about media propaganda?"

Because I told you I'd no longer ping you to these kinds of matter & I didn't, and won't.
I suggest you listen a bit closer to certain people, my friend.

There're actually a few (still around) who say as they do.

...& do as they say. ;^)

Eso-erotica??

A *new* word.

I love that guy, so not to worry about ol' FBD.

It looks like the hacks at "strategypage" just lifted it from FR -- minus the formatting and color that made it make sense. Not surprising, given that they are playing in the shallow end of the talent pool over there.

Whatta hard nose, that Lan is...FGS thinks you got some Tabasco in your cereal... I'd say Piss-and-vinegar was more likely... :0

BTW, the liberal editor of our local fishwrapper has a column titled "Cabbages and Kings". Many people believe that poem Lewis wrote in Alice in Wonderland is about about organized religion, and how the oysters are followers of faiths that devour them: (I don't believe that, by the way...)

But to me; I relate that *nonsensicle* poem to the media hucksters and it's gullible audience...sorry you if ain't buying it, though. My comments, though *esoteric*, were intended to be complimentary.
Indubitably so. Esoterically so... ;^)

Aww shucks, thanks Lan, my yiddish friend! ;^D

...But I'm also a *Goyim*, yes?

I meant to ping you to #108 also.
Lan says he will no longer ping me to any more articles about the media, cause he thinks I was mocking him, with my comparing his comments to that Lewis Carroll poem. Sheesh, kinda touchy ain't he?

Oh well, he'll get over it. As paybacks, I'm a no longer gonna ping him to all the Fairtax threads...that'll teach him, yup it will... ;^D

My favorite dismissive (#11) is when the media uses the phrase "so-called" to subtly call into question the credibility of a group. That one happens a lot.

"The clear intent is to give the impression that extremism exists only on the Right; that a danger or threat exists within the politics of Conservatism. On the Left, the opposite is implied; that the Liberal philosophy is accepted, neutral or moderate."

Along those lines, it amazes me that the media warn of the imbalance they think will occur if a bonafide conservative, Judge Alito, replaces moderate Justice O'Connor, but had no problem with a far-left Liberal, Ginsberg, replacing a conservative, Justice White. Ignoring the obvious point that a President should be given latitude to pick SCOTUS nominees who agree with his ideology, the degree of ideological imbalance created by the Ginsberg appointment is far greater than the appointment of Judge Alito.

Actually I am the original author and after I posted it on a vanity thread here I submitted it to StrategyPage to be published, and I asked them not to publish my name so I could remain anonymous. I've always found their articles to be quite interesting and full of information on a variety of topics. That and the fact that they have over 300,000 unique visitors each month made me quite happy that they decided to print my modest bit of work.

Cool, glad you're happy and that it was posted with your permission.

Re Strategypage, it's a place where a lot of wargamers that did their military service on a tech bench or squinting at satellite photos (if they did it at all) tell each other how much smarter they are than those dumb officers running the war (not to mention the dumb soldiers fighting it...).

It's kind of like Hackworth's "Soldiers for the Truth" -- a lot of armchair weenies playing combat wannabee. Well if they really wanted to be, they coulda been, you know?
