I read this editorial in the hard copy of the NYT, and was surprised to see how much Frank Rich REALLY tore into VP Cheney! I think Rich mentioned a poll that said Cheney is now at 29% approval and that's it.
So, I was going to post it, and see what others had to say here on FR, but, lo and behold: Frank Rich is now "TimesSelect" -- meaning, I would have to shell out bucks to get his column. And, I'm not doing that.
Consequently, does this mean Frank Rich and FR have now forever parted ways? And no more FR responses to his columns?
I am guessing it does mean that, because who in the world on FR would shell out money for the NYT online??

BTW, while I realize newspaper revenues are in the toilet so to speak, I still think it's a bad business decision to make people pay for online content. It's chilling free speech! Because I would very much like to read FR people's response to this column. And, now, I can't, because I can't post even an excerept of Rich's column. No dialogue. No discussion. Not good!

The truth about Iraq is this: the terrorists are being fought there, not here.

I don't recall Frank Rich mentioning that in his lengthy piece.

Gee...I really miss Frank's theater reviews.

See, that's why I wanted to post this article. Rich claims to have the facts. I don't know. I hadn't read a Frank Rich article in awhile, but this article was SO anti-Chency I couldn't believe it. I was really surprised. Really. (Even though it's Frank Rich and we all know alrady that he hates conservatives. Still, it was quite a punch he threw at Cheny.)

The left is VERY AFRAID that Cheney will run for President.
His tweaking comment that while he wouldn't be a candidate he would help with the vetting process must be driving the left insane.

To get the full intended effect of this article, have someone swing a pocketwatch from side to side in front of your face and quietly chant, "You are getting sleepy....sleeeeeeepy...."

I can see this Frank Rich rolling on the floor, pitching a fit, kicking his feet and slinging snot all over the place because no one will listen to his defeatist rants. Why? Because nobody gives a tinker's damn. Get it Frank, you have no credibility, you have no influence, you are on board a medium of the past and there is nothing you can do about it.

That's right. They hated Rich. He was destroying the NY theater community and its revenues!

Maybe in that "restructuring",Rich will be busted down to weekend weather analyst.
To: OldFriend
But, usually he writes some sappy piece about a cultural event and weaves in some political analogy. Today's column was very different. It was just a ton of heavy blows at Cheney, one after the other. I was quite shocked. No mention of any tv show, film, or book. Just the war. And that's it.
