Without the internet and talk
radio think how much they'd have gotten by with. Yer
a failed lier Mapes. Turn in yer Selectric and STFU!
I'm not defending Mapes. Here's the thing though, I, as a journalism student, didn't know R from D, was not politically aware and just wanted to go after whoever was in 'Authority'. As were many of my young radical contemporaries.
If you want to call what she does "living".
In other words...we were young and naive and ripe for the pickin'.
Ziegler pointed out that she didn't go after Kerry. She was lying --- she is totally politically biased.
Yes. But I recall some (very few) of J-professors taught the straight w's. She thinks she has journalist ethics and personal integrity (well maybe not the latter)
Oh.. I see.. OK, OK.. You believe that there were no agenda driven journalistic standards dominating the enthusiasm in newsrooms and production offices in the Main Street Media, for uncovering (or in some cases Creating) Conservative/Republican scandals..
So, you suggest that all of these mishaps, missteps, Oops scoops, that have bedeviled the media of late were all just innocent boneheaded coincidences, laid at the feet of youthful exuberance.. Is that it?..
Bridge, meet buyer.. :)
Since you too enjoy putting fingers to keys, imagine yourself putting out a news product - without trace of bias (it used to be done). Could you do it.
Some reporters try to get it right (Bernard Goldberg for 30 yrs and CBS too, at one time)
Well lets see what Bernie Goldberg says in his acclaimed tome, "BIAS"
In "BIAS" Goldberg himself skewers CBS as well as his contemporaries throughout the entirely biased news monopoly.. ZING! It is not often that a book comes along that every thinking adult should read. "BIAS" is such a book.
I got the book around noon and had finished it by the early evening, passing up two meals. As you no doubt know, "BIAS" is about the liberal bias in the media. It has particular weight since it was written by a 28-year veteran of CBS news. And a Liberal himself. Many of us have claimed for years that CBS was the poster child for liberal bias. Now, Bernie Goldberg has come out of the closet.
Every Conservative should read this book, because it will give you the smoking gun you always searched for in your claim that the elite media is biased. Liberals should also read the book, and search deep within to see if you can find some big lie or plot that undermines the book's credibility. Liberals will have a harder time excusing away this book than just about anything they have ever tried to do.
It begs the question how did such a liberal media culture develop, for so long, without some push back - market forces, compitition etc.
40 years is a long time for conservatives to be shut out of the market place of ideas. What took so long? Harder to reverse the damage, too.
Agreement again, I find it hard to accept that one ideology could so dominate an entire industry without detection.. Lets see, it would take a total commitment with a powerful legislative agenda. Democrats have dominated the 3 branches of the government and 3/4 of the state legislatures for 34 of the last 50 years. The Mainstream Media is 89% controlled by the most leftist of the liberal mindset..
Labor Unions have be exclusively in the pockets of the Democrats since the first Roosevelt administration. No one would question the agenda of the teachers union and their leadership commitment to liberal causes.. The Federal judiciary has been dominated by a commitment to Liberal causes.. And last but certainly not least Higher education and tenured professorship have an indelible blotch on the curriculum throughout the entire school system from kindergarten to a Ph.D., capturing the root source of all information fed to children throughout their entire education..
That unfortunately is how it could (DID) happen
Carlo... Today I am particularly thankful for the memory you just restored!!!
I was in the middle of cooking, with kids making noise, and I heard who was on and quickly dashed off the post! Sorry - it was a replay - but yes, he really did set up the questions brilliantly. I really enjoyed the way he laid her out to dry. She could not give a cogent response.
