Despite preferring Republicans for President and US Senate, the state still prefers Democrats for almost every state govt office.

Unbeknownst to the average NC Republican, the state has been sabotaged by the NCGOP "leadership" who are operatives for the Dem party: wittingly or unwittingly. I have watched with amazement as this scenario, with its cast of characters, unfolded over the past ten years. The voters of NC were sabotaged, by the doubts cast by the NCGOP, when they were given a reasonably legitimate Republican candidate to vote for in the last gubernatorial election.

TR, you're losing it. Patrick Ballantine ran his own campaign into the ground, and to blame it on the NCGOP -- get real. There are plenty of things to blame the state party for without saddling it with a flip-flopping inept slimy lawyer "great conservative hope" whose backers said after the election that no one should have been surprised because he'd always acted like and claimed to be a moderate.

What is your beef with Ed McMahan, or are you just engaging in knee-jerk attacks these days?

Perhaps you're right. Perhaps Ballantine ran himself into the ground, but the NCGOP never should have backed one of their own in the primary. By doing so, they precluded the chance of a real candidate taking the win and, IMHO, they violated party rules.

There is nothing to be gained by trashing Ed McMahan, so let's give that a rest.
