---Fourth, although the Governor’s approval rating has been forced down there is one political institution that consistently fares even worse: the liberal Democratic state legislature.---

Yeah, and the voters keep electing the buggers anyway. That's the problem.

Excellent speech. I heard it in person last week, and the audience (our Central Committee) loved it.

Thanks for the article. McClintock has a great way to speak plainly and with good common sense. In the recall election he and Arnold together got 62% of the vote. Pretty amazing condsidering this is in California.

Actually, there were about 100 people at the meeting. Average attendance is probably 60 or 70. There are more than 1 million registered Republican voters in LA County.

Those of us who toil in the vineyard of California politics don't appreciate the cheap shots that make light of our difficult position. We also dislike the extreme discounting of our efforts.

California is an important state, and "red" Americans cannot smugly ignore what goes on here. You are not as separate or safe from the hard-left forces who run this state as you think.

There are millions of conservatives and Republicans in this state. We contributed millions of votes to GWB last year, and about 20 GOP congressmen.

Tom McClintock is truly a great American.

Californians are blessed to have at least one leader of this caliber.

>>>>I will leave you with this question: What would Ronald Reagan do?

For conservatives, it always gets back to Reagan. Tom McClintock is saying that California is worth fighting for and maybe it is. I just don't think Ahnold Scwarzy has the answers or is capable of getting the job done. In the end, maybe circumstances will work in California's favor. For now its gonna be a bumpy ride.

I’ll be honest with you; I thought these measures would pass for a simple reason. Two years ago, we recalled Gray Davis for policies that had bankrupted this state and this election was the opportunity to actually change those policies.

Well, so much for the claim that his support for the props was just "tepid."
