[...don't talk to reporters...]

I'm not saying Libby fell for reporter's ploys, but he should know that it is completely unreasonable to trust anyone in the media?

Example: Barbara Walters. Her slimy style hypnotizes her victims, somehow they "forget" they are being taped. With the lights all around, they don't even see the cameras. They think they are alone... and then they say the dumbest things. BW disingenuously mocks her victims, while calling it intimate, candid, revealing, human. It's the snake in the garden.

If Pincus couldn't remember hearing it from Woody, Libby is more credible saying that he got mixed up about when HE first heard it.

Except Libby first heard about it in late May and whichever administration figure who told Woodward didnt tell him until mid June and Libby didnt speak to Woodward until June 23 (by phone) and June 27 (in person). And Woodward doesnt recall talking about Wilson/Plame and its not in his notes, etc.

I think Fitz had good intentions. But now he is in trouble with developing stuff. It might even get to the point of a being dropped. We will see what he is made of before Thanksgiving.

I'm laughing my head off watching Chris Matthews tonight. He and Matt Cooper's lawyer are ingulfed in tin foil. Tin foil wienies! Matthews is "leading" Cooper's lawyer into supporting any wild Matthews speculation.

It's wild tonight! Matthews won't have it any other way but that Cheney must be Woodward's source.

Matthews says Libby and his lawyers must be popping the champagne corks tonight. He's especially furious about what he calls "rolling disclosures". This wicked, wascally wepublican going to Fitzgerald, releasing Woodward of his confidentiality agreement, but not allowing him to write about what happened. I'm loving this!

Now Matthews has on Scarborough to make fun of Bob Woodward and both are certain Dick Cheney is Fitzgerrald's source, that Cheney is the one who talked to Woodward, and has now, conveniently told Fitzgerald it was Woodward who got the first "Wilson's wife" leak.

Matthews states as fact that Libby is going down on his sword to save Cheney. As fact!!!! And Scarborough doesn't even bother to challenge that wild accusation.

"With all respect Chris, you're making all this up". LMAO when uber Liberal columnist Richard Cohen said that to Chris Matthews! Of course that won't stop Matthews from making up outrageous scenarios about Cheney, but at least we had the fun of Matthews getting bitchslapped by one of his own.

TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Funny!!

He had more than a year before he lied to the grand jury.

There you go again Libby has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Why do you assert that Libby took "notes" of his phone conversations? Do you take notes of your conversations and then catalogue and file them so they can be "reviewed" two years later??

I now have no need for a purgative. I just evacuated my bowels. Richard Cohen just told Chris Matthews, "Respectfully, Chris, you're just making this stuff up." Richard Cohen bent Matthews over, told him to grab his ankles, and did his buisness to Matthews. Matthews' face went white, his jaw went slack, and he was speechless. I would have paid money to see that.

Someone needs to raid Joe Wilson's drawers (no not those drawers) and find his sweatshirts and ball caps proclaiming: "I'm special cause My Wife Valerie Plame is a undercover spook for the See Eye Aye."

I'm with you...Powell. There are lots of reporters in D.C. who would go to their graves protecting Powell. If it were Tenet, it would've leaked by now.

I haven't read the whole thread, so this has probably been discussed. But it's bugging the heck out of me. First, Woodward's actual statement only refers to three "current and former administation officials". In its first paragraph, the Post turned that into "SENIOR admisistration official". Petty, maybe. But Chris Matthews is having a field day saying "SENIOR official". Of course, he had also practically frog marched Cheney out of the White House too! LOL!

I heard part of the Fox panel where someone said we now KNOW Woodward's original source is a FORMER official. Did I miss a development today? How do we "know" it?

Clinton wasn't indicted. We did have the famous blue dress and Clinton did settle out of court with Paula Jones, paid a fine, and had his law license suspended for a period of time. But that is not what we are discussing now. We are discussing your statement about Libby not Clinton's guilt or innocence.

Clinton's impeachment is the equivalent of an indictment. He was tried in the Senate. Nice Try.

How'd you like the part where Matthews said: "And now for more on the Fitzgerald campaign. Er. Not 'campaign'...investigation".

LOL! Chris is in panic mode. He looked like his pet pony just died.

You stated that, "Even if true that he had heard it from Woodward, that doesnt change the fact that Libby attempted to mislead the investigators and lied before the grand jury. Again, what proof do you have to make such a statement beyond what is in the indictment?

The fact that anyone reportedly as smart as Libby could forget discussing Wilson and his wife and how to deal with the issue with the press with seven people prior to talking to any reporters. The fact that Cheney, two people at the CIA and one at the State Department told him that Wilson's wife worked at the CIA and that she had sent him to Africa. That the CIA and State Departments told him this in response to his request for that information. The fact that a week before he supposedly told Russert, he had lunch with Ari Fleischer and told him, perhaps hoping that he would spread the word. How can all this happen and Libby not remember or fail to mention it. He latched on to this reporter story, true or not, to avoid discussing the other sources of his knowledge from a political embarrasment standpoint.

Read the post. I didnt say a word about taking notes of his telephone conversations although he might, certainly all of the reporters he spoke to did. I was speaking of his personal notes that he took throughout his day were he noted Cheney told me about Wilson and his wife. These are notes that the prosecutor has. Libby wrote them and had access to them for months before they were subpoened. Presumably in all that time when the WH was investigating the leak, he would look at those to determine his legal liability?

We know its not Andy Card and Scotter Libby because they have both given Woodward a release to discuss their conversations. That leaves one person who he referred to as senior administration offical. Im thinking it's same person who tipped Novak and I think that is Powell. That or Cheney (although some website is claiming that is the new National Security Advisor Hadley). It had to be someone that Woodward would feel worthy of interviewing for his book on the run up to the war.

I guess, technically, he could refer to Libby as a "former" official. But I still think it's Powell.

How do we know it's "not Andy Card"? Was he one of Woodward's inteviews?
