I close on a hopeful note, by repeating what I said above. If we are united, there is no way that we can lose. I hope now after the election, the factions in our country will begin to focus on the critical situation we are in, and will unite to save our country.

LOL If that's what you're hanging your hope on then put your head between your legs and kiss your a$$ goodbye.

We will get united though and we will kick some real butt. After a major US city is completely wiped out.

"We can definitely lose this was, and as anomalous as it may sound, the major reason we can lose is that so many of us simply do not fathom the answer to the second question- What does losing mean?"

"It would appear that a great many of us think that losing the war means hanging our heads, bringing the troops home, and going about our business, like Vietnam. This is as far from the truth as one can get"

"Until we recognize the costs of losing, we cannot unite and really put 100% of our thoughts and efforts into winning."

Excellent points. Very insightful analysis from a "big picture" perspective.

It infuriates me that the democrats and the press keep actively trying to undermine our war effort.
( Our loss of the Vietnam war is nothing to be proud of.)

While there were no direct consequences to us from Vietnam, there will be severe consequences if we lose the War on Terror. The Islamo-facists are playing for keeps.
(I think our efforts in Iraq are the best way to combat the fanatics)

It is wise NOT to assume that we can easily win, or that failure is not possible.

These points needs to made to all of our people through the bully pulpit, in the main stream media, and on the MSM talk shows, exc...

I agree that this post is a Must Read.

Welcome to Free Republic.

"Hitler (who was also a Christian)"

"Bullsh!t"

I seem to recall that Hitler claimed to be a Christian at first, or tolerated it in the beginning. I don't think the poster is making a slap. He/she is trying to point out something about human nature.

There were many Christians in Germany, who did nothing to combat the atrocities of the Nazi's , for fear of the viciousness of them. Maybe moderate Muslims won't be able to rein in the brutal fanatics.

Look at how hard it is to get people stand up to the liberals here. We claim we are a Judaeo-Christian country, yet we stand idly by, while the radical left continues to have cross after cross removed, and destroy our heritage at every opportunity. Not enough people fight.

While I don't agree with everything in the post, it contains many points that should be considered.

The most important one is that we need to be united , fully informed, and engaged in the task of winning the War on Terror. I agree with that.
