I stand by my assessment that we ARE fighting this was with our hands tied behind our back, with one of the top priorities being to win the hearts and minds.

We aren't there as conquerors anymore. WE are there until their Army gets a firm grasp on the country again. If you don't want to be fighting 26 million people in total, we had to play to the people of Iraq and it's working a helluva lot better than anything you have heard in the MSM. Matter of fact, if we were treating these people the way they were treated under Saddam, I can't think of anything worse to do.

There is an infinite supply of thugs and terrorists. If we continue present day tactics, we will continue to lose our soldiers fighting a foot war against common thugs and international mercenaries/zealots.

If you do not know what "WHAT" is, it is hard to discuss this with you. We have the ability to bring extreme pain on the nations that harbor terrorists by waging financial warfare against them. Cut off the billions we send them, and these nations will start going after terrorists in their countries. We can also rain destruction upon proper targets through air power.

Attempting to bring "democracy " to ass backward, zealot rampant nations is fruitless. We should be waging war against nations that harbor terrorists with tactics I mentioned, but forget about trying to "win a war on the ground". We would attack them with these tactics until they see cry uncle and start waging their own war to root out their own terrorists.

Our nation was founded on the desire for freedom. If the Iraqi people had the desire for freedom, we would be seeing film footage today of the Iraqi Army in action rooting out terrorists. Instead, we are fighting their war. This is nuts.

Typical. Those of us who post comments that are rational are treated as radioactive, just because we don't pour sugar and honey over the issue at hand.

One of my nephews, a Marine, is in the artillery, yet he is doing house to house police action with a rifle. What a waste for a Marine trained to bring destruction with heavy artillery upon an enemy in order to stop a war. Instead, he fights as a rifleman doing urban police work.

Both my Marine nephew and his dad both have the same feelings as I do. His dad is VERY bitter that his son is carrying a rifle doing the job of an Iraqi policeman when his training was in the artillery. He has seen too many of his buddies killed.

Another nephew is in intelligence and has been based in Iraq. He can't say a whole lot, but he would be the first to tell you that we are fighting a PC war. He has told me that.

My son is in the Navy.

Bush said in his speech that we would go after nations that harbor terrorists. We are right about the "PC" tactics. Bush is standing by while Syria and Iran continue to aid the thugs by building IEDs for them and using their borders as conduit. Bush has yet to do anything even though they are "with the terrorists". Bush reneged on his promise.

If this isn't PC, what is?

Nice reading your good posts.

Oh? WE are fighting THEIR war? Is THAT why they are targeting civilians now?

Is that why we have killed over 100,000 INSURGENTS AND TERRORISTS WHILE OUR KIAs are a little over 2000?

If that is THEIR type of war, then THEY suck at it.

And WHAT is obviously the military (dur) but it's CURRENT mission is SECURING IRAQ. One thing at a time. Of course, KNOWING YOU AND WATCHING YOUR POSTS, I would be willing to bet that YOU would like to NUKE someone like Iran. That isn't going to happen and if that is PC, then it's PC and that's a GOOD thing.

You know, Mike, my post was simple, calm, cool, and rational.

Your post seems like it was written by a maniac with hypertension.

Yet with that stark contrast, it is you (the wild raving one) who has accused two fellow members of wanting to nuke Iraq.

That's funny, Mike. I mean, it really is very funny. Take a break, go whip up a strawberry smoothie in your blender, kick back, and read all these posts again, then I think you will see what I mean. Very funny, Mike. Really.

THANK YOU for your courage, sacrifice and RATIONALITY (the latter stands in refreshing contrast to the snarky myopia displayed by one or two other posters on this thread)!

HAPPY VETERANS DAY . . . MY FAMILY AND I SALUTE YOU!!

Thanks Jan.

This is the part of the speech that breaks my heart. That FREE Americans and some elected officials, no less, would rather the Iraqi people still be under the control of the dictator Saddam!

Some folks appear incapable of learning....

One of Bush's best speeches. Excellant post and illustrations.

We need MORE of this.

The Administration must hammer away at the ignorant American masses to prevent the Viet Namization of this conflict by communists and socialists in COngress like Leahy and Kennedy.

If Bush is not succeeded by another real Republican in 2008, and the Dems take over Congress in 2006, all is lost.

The one thing that's perfectly clear is that you DON'T believe the U.S. military or the Generals in the field, or you would't have the distorted view of what's going on in Iraq that you do.

If you got your information from military sources, you wouldn't be saying the things you're saying........and I find that quite curious.

Ask yourself "what did Clowntoon do?" Would you get more of that or less if Kerry were in office?

When political party apologist are reduced to defending their political idols by offering only some inane muttering about the other party's guy would have been worse, it is they who are in dire need of some honest introspection.

Mike is a mole. I challenged him on some crazy stuff he said over a year ago, and he said he could never be zotted because he comes from a legit .mil address. Your instincts are correct.
