1. You will find very little Bush bashing in my pretty extensive record here.
2. __?__ it out your _?_ !
Can we clone Condi? She could handle the job extremely well. Hell, clone her several times. She could handle the whole cabinet!
Has it occurred to you that McClellan may actually have said "I don't think that's accurate"?
Sound quality in this venue is far from perfect. And McClellan is clearly responding to a question that contains one false premise ("covert agent") and is attempting to establish a false proposition (that Bush claimed he would fire Rove, or anybody, if they were "involved").
I'm not a McClellan fan. But I'd trust him (and the WH stenographer) before I'd trust David Gregory (and the media's transcription services).
Some people on FR are very smart and get quoted every day by somebody ~ usually without attribution, but quoted nonetheless.
LOL!! Sam Kinnison would be perfect!!
If you post to get quoted, oh well. You must have a pretty sad view of yourself...
I'm guessing you got quoted, so you think that makes you "special"... What's the matter, they didn't tell everybody how smart you are?
I don't post here for attribution. I just like to stir the pot! This is a site made for the users, not the lurkers. If a lurker mines a diamond, though, I don't expect them all to look for the owner... just put it on their finger, and let it shine!
Gee, what a thoughtful sentiment. I understand the thinking behind your post, but why "waste" my vote on people that act just like the other side? "My daddy didn't raise no fool."
I would vote for ANY man or woman, that echoes my sentiments, or at least is the closest aligned to it. I used to think they were all R's, but more might have an I, or L, after their names.
There are exceptions, such as here in WV. I have Shelly Capito for my rep, and "anybody but Sheets", for Sen... I will vote for the Pubs, but I will look at EVERYBODY. I will put my money where it will help, IMHO. I am not a straight party guy, any more! I don't like a lot of the music they arfe playing...
BTW, Dan Quayle wasn't all that Conservative ~ he threw his lot in with Bush 41 ~
I can readily see that you haven't ever sat down and talked with him. Your posit is without foundation.
From his website:
Vice President Dan Quayle was born on February 4, 1947, in Indianapolis, Indiana. After spending much of his youth in Arizona, he graduated from Huntington High School in Huntington, Indiana, in 1965. Dan Quayle graduated from DePauw University in 1969 and received his J.D. from Indiana University School of Law at Indianapolis in 1974. In November 1972, Dan Quayle married the former Marilyn Tucker of Indianapolis. Dan and Marilyn Quayle have three grown children: Tucker, Benjamin and Corinne. They live in Paradise Valley, Arizona where he attended grade school and high school.
Public Office
Dan Quayle's public service began in July 1971 when he became an investigator for the Consumer Protection Division of the Indiana Attorney General's Office. Later that year, he became an administrative assistant to Governor Edgar Whitcomb. From 1973-74, he was the Director of the Inheritance Tax Division of the Indiana Department of Revenue. Upon receiving his law degree, he worked as associate publisher of his family's newspaper, the Huntington Herald-Press, and practiced law with his wife in Huntington.
Dan Quayle's political career began when he was elected to the United States Congress in 1976 at age 29. He was elected to the United States Senate at age 33. On January 20, 1989 he took the oath of office as the 44th Vice President of the United States at age 41.
Dan Quayle is widely considered to have been one of the most active Vice Presidents in history. In his constitutional role as Vice President, Dan Quayle served as president of the United States Senate. On February 9, 1989, President Bush named Dan Quayle head of the Council of Competitiveness, which worked to ensure US international competitiveness in the 21st century. He made official visits to 47 countries, was chairman of the National Space Council, and served as President Bush's point man on Capitol Hill. As a leader in causes from legal system reform to deregulation to the renewal of basic American values, Dan Quayle developed a large national following and became one of the most admired Americans of his time.
Private Sector
Since leaving public office, Dan Quayle has authored three books: Standing Firm, A Vice-Presidential Memoir which was on the New York Times bestseller list for 15 weeks; The American Family: Discovering the Values that Make Us Strong; and Worth Fighting For. He established and sold an insurance business in Indiana. For two years he was a distinguished visiting professor of international studies at Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management. Currently, Dan Quayle is Chairman of Cerberus Global Investment Investments, LLC (Cerberus), President of Quayle & Associates, and serves on the board of directors of IAP, K-2 and Aozora Bank in Tokyo. He makes frequent public appearances and speeches, and writes a nationally syndicated weekly newspaper column.
Dan Quayle joined the Cerberus Advisory Board in 2000, and currently serves as Chairman. Cerberus is one of the largest private investment funds in the United States, with over $14 billion under management, and offices in NY, Chicago, LA, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Germany. As Chairman, Dan Quayle has been actively involved in new business sourcing and marketing for Cerberus in North America, Asia and Europe. His extensive global network of political and private-sector decision-makers, combined with his investment expertise, have significantly contributed to the establishment of the Cerberus brand name. Dan Quayle has offices in New York and Arizona, and regularly travels throughout the US, Europe and Asia to meet with the heads of investment banks, corporations, buyout shops, potential investors, and politicians to (1) ensure that Cerberus stays at the forefront of deal flow activity, (2) facilitate Cerberus' entry into new markets and industries, and (3) foster potential transaction partnerships.
He is no slouch, nor is he even close to liberal. He is bright, and able! I would vote for him today, but he's too busy making the big bucks, now!
No, I don't think I've checked out Dan's website.
BTW, that Reserve slot he was after ~ remember that story ~ I'd just gotten out of the Army and was living in Virginia. However, my "residence" had been listed as Indiana. I got many notices from the guv'mnt that I should take that particular job, or another couple of jobs, to complete my remaining Reserve requirement.
I had to actually appeal a "hardship" (commuting from VA to IN is difficult) to get out of the assignment.
Guess that makes me the guy that made it possible for Dan to evade the draft eh?!
Thank you for your service. I was Navy reserve, but did not have to complete the 4 yrs of meetings, and weeklongs. I got an exemption from it by doing a similar thing.
As far as Dan is concerned, he is a bright guy that has done well. His "potatoe" spelling, etc, was the same kind of things flung at W, today.
As for his conservatism, he is a little to the left of Jesse Helms, but way to the right of our beloved W. His VP tour was a balancing act, to get more of the conservative vote for GHWB.
He couldn't get elected now, since he is a real conservative...
In before the Zot... again!
IBTZ...
