Let's see. It was a "comically disastrous campaign," that "kooky Keyes candidacy." "But a year later, what legacy or stain can we say Keyes left. . ." Yep, fair and balanced coverage by - I'll give him the benefit of the doubt - a Trib metrosexual.

Conservatives are extremist kooks; liberals are mainstream moderates. The reality is exactly the reverse of this favored MSM template.

Personally I like the man. When he ran for President he didn't overlook the small towns and cities along the campaign trail.
His remarks on personal responsibility and racial profiling didn't go over so well in welfare Jackson.

Are you referring to Jackson County, down by SIU at Carbondale? That place makes San Francisco look like Salt Lake City.

He even has the same effect.

Talk about your vote counting. I voted for him in the Primary. It made me laugh when I saw the results in the paper.

Keyes was used by the IL GOP. He should have politely declined their offer to be the GOP Senatorial candidate.

George W. Bush is the republican version of Bill Clinton.Your not the first to say that.
That said, I see alot of personality differences and also alot of different reactions from how the act.
If Bush was a republican version of Bill Clinton, he would have been a hell of alot more slicker.

Alan Keyes is the conservative version of Howard Dean. Alan Keyes is intelligent...so you're comment is demonstrably false.

I still admire Keyes but he's fallen in my estimation since that race. True, the MSM tore him apart, but he ran a terrible campaign. As I recall, he made a senseless remark about so called "tax breaks" for descendants of former slaves (a flip-flop on reparations). Still, the area north of I-80 would have been cut off, Bush would have been an easy winner and the Keyes race would have been close.

Alan Keyes is intelligent...so you're comment is demonstrably false. He is intelligent, he also acts like a nut.
So my comment is about as false as saying Bush has 2 legs.
Keyes is a nut, a smart nut, but a nut.

On another note, I was really sorry to hear that another black conservative, Vernon Robinson, lost in the NC primary in his congressional race. Again, the MSM ripped him to shreds.

I suppose it's a matter of where one puts the emphasis when comparing Keyes to Dean. Dean is an idiot and outright insane. Keyes is quite intelligent, however he is outside of the mainstream (defining the mainstream as the 25% to either side of center). They are probably about equally far to their respective ends of the spectrum...there are many who are much more left than Dean politically. (just not too many as insane, however...well, there is Gore, and Kucinich).

I don't think Keyes is outside the mainstream.
I think he acts like he is outside the mainsteam and attacks those who might want to agree with him.
Dean, is a nut who acts like a nut and has no understanding of reality so he has no idea he is outside the mainstream.
Keyes acts like a nut who has no idea he actually is pretty mainstream and instead acts like the mainstream is a bunch of leftists.
