He (Rather) signed off with a favorite expression of his: "FTA" for "---- them all."....B.S. ... Rather's "FTA", (according to those who know) is for "F*ck the A**holes"!

If I was an idiot, it was for believing in a free press that is able to do its job without fear or favor. Another liberal who believes freedom of the press infers freedom from criticism. Free speech for me but not for thee.

Vanity Fair says Mapes sets out to "answer her critics." Apparently by whining about having to be held to a modicum of journalistic standards.

I'm waiting for Sheehan-Mapes wedding.
Those two dames were made for each other.

"..I didn't know that the attack on our story was going to be as effective as a brilliantly run national political campaign, because that is what it was: a political campaign." Hey, what do you expect when you run a story that is itself nothing more than "a political campaign?"

I notice she does not address the issue: Were the documents fakes?
Maybe she does in the book, but if she uses the 'fake but accurate BS' then she has become a bigger laughing stock then Dan Blather.

How about really putting a scare in those CBS types? why don't us "far right" blogger types start talking about strengthening independent TV stations and giving them access to the same Hollywood programs that the networks have (and at the same cost). This would ensure less abuse of corporate power and bring more diversity etc. Then see how they like it!
