"But the difference is, perjury was never the main focus of this investigation but in the Lewinsky matter it was."

There's a lot to critcize here but this ain't it. The investigation into Clinton started as Whitewater. Lewinsky was VERY far afield from the original reason.

But you forget Ken Starr didn't get there on his own. Janet Reno sent him to investigate lying under oath and suborning perjury in the Jones matter. Starr couldn't have done any of that on his own. He needed Justice Department authorization which by the way he never sought on his own, but was dropped in his lap by the Reno Justice Department when the story of Clinton conspiring to commit perjury first broke in the Washington Post. Starr wasn't on a fishing expedition. He was sent after this one by the Justice Department and perjury was the main focus of it.

Libby will never lie and sell anyone else out and the weight of the truth here is already rolling over the libs. It may not seem that way looking at the SAP (Stone Age Press)coverage but they are spinning as hard as they can to help take down the Pres. They might think it's selling in flyover America but it ain't.

I see two problems. One is the "rolling over" issue. I don't know Libby so I worry. :-)

My second fear is a little more subtle.

One of the ways the MSM works is by creating "templates" for events and then twisting new events to fit the template. That becomes their "angle" and a drumbeat for months, sometimes for years.

Bush now has two bad templates thrust at him. They are Vietnam and Watergate. Every speech, every word, every gesture will be interpreted by the MSM through those prisms.

The reason the template approach is such a powerful propaganda tool is that the human mind understands the world from infancy through templates. We create categories and fit new events into them, and then reshuffle (if we are rational :-) ) when appropriate.

The only president who survived grotesque MSM templates was Reagan. The Gipper had a strong unified base, a great speaking style, and only one template to fight. (Iran/Contra=Watergate)

Reagan also had a guy named Ollie North who played offense instead of defense.

The current Republican Congress is too worried about sending pork back home to care about the President. In the current budget the Republican Congress reinstated many programs the White House tried to cut (look at the HUD budget for some examples). The WH staff is now demoralized, afraid that they have whispered Plame's name in their sleep to their wives. They will be useless in carrying forward the WH agenda.

So I worry. :-)

the Prosecutor is once again requesting authority to expand the investigation even further.

Oh,oh, this could be very series. It is now very possible that any number of Freepers who I read discussing Valerie Plame's connection to the CIA several years ago could be getting that knock on the door......

Ummm .... I think you're forgetting about Whitewater. Let's not get too conveniently revisionist.

Irrelevant to the point. Lewinsky WAS about perjury. Palme is not.

Do you have a job? How do you earn your money? Are you a priest, or a minister of the gospel? Attorney's earn money the old fashioned way. They uphold the constitution and when a defendant has been accused there is a process. If the process is corrupt them write your senator and see if you can get it changed, but if you are successful I hope you will not be accused of something and not be able to have a defense attorney.

Don't let the liberals turn you off on attorneys. Sure there are criminals in every profession, but democracy can not run without attorneys, Communism however has no need for them.

Give it some thought.

Hate IS a strong term and I don't really hate them, I just can't stand them and their idiotic and destructive ways. They are destructive to this nation.

Me, too, and I hope the same for the DeLay hearings. The democrats have no ideas, no plans, no anything--just vitriol against republicans. Grrrr.
