I'd like to consider your comment, but I don't know much about you. Don't bother telling me more about yourself. Why would I want to know more when I know so little?
Ahhhh. I see. Sorry, I still haven't gotten with the "new tone." (BTW, I do NOT think, like many here, that the "new tone" has been unsuccessful. I attribute much of Bush's success in 2002 and 2004 to his NOT being successfully demonized as a "partisan" due to his manner. However, I also think that like any good general, there comes a point where you need to change your tactics and surprise the enemy. Now is that time.)
This does come in an English language version as well, right...? :)
Who are all these "his people" you're talking about? Dobson is no Pope and believe it or not Christian Conservatives actually make their own choices.....as the Harriet Miers nomination shows. After all, if Dobson really had "his people" they would have backed Miers like Dobson wanted them to.Dobson's people are whoever his following is.
Bloated budget, Title IX, Campaign finance, immigration...this President has done what he wanted and conservatives have played along. If this were the Democraps, the left wing would have sent Ted Kennedy up to run against him in '04. ..
Bush promise a conservative bench. Ya gotta do better than Miers.
"...a perfectly qualified candidate felt compelled to withdraw her nomination without being heard."?
At the heart of this whole matter is the fact that she is decidedly unqualified to sit on the Supreme Court. You've seen the same "thoughts" and tortured writing the rest of us have; how can you arrive at any other conclusion? Add on top of that that she's a complete cipher and you're asking us to sit idly by while we show the president "deference" and TRUST, because that's all we have, that she'll be a champion of the constitution.
Too much is at stake and you should know that
You can take your smears about the conservatives who 'heckled' Harriet with her own words and shove `em. Ditto your pious crap about 'loyalty.' Bush could have been loyal to us and appointed someone OBVIOUSLY qualified AND conservative. And megaditto your veiled support for a liberal appointee to 'pay back' the right, which really shows your true colors, RINO. Y'all insist upon rehashing the past. But it's over. You lost. Join the party or take your ball and go home to your buddies at DU. But stop yer whining, it's getting tiresome.
Dang, you really ARE a DU troll. No conservative would say something so asinine. I could see maybe saying that about Schlafly, or Malkin, or even Charen or Chavez. But RUSH LIMBAUGH?
Just go back to DU now, before you embarrass yourself.
Great post BUMP!
Aww, you know what I was getting at Kent. I have to put my face on and go teach a bunch of kids how to bias a transistor amplifier to half the supply voltage now. (You'd think their parents would have discussed that with them.) But after today's class I'll have the whole weekend to play. See you later. Have a good one.
I heard plenty in that 1993 speech. This was many years after she was born-again and 5 years after she delcared she supported a pro-life constitutional amendment. The lady had no convictions and blows with the wind. Anyone who calls abortion protestors 'terrorists' is a no go.
I don't think he was concern until tha 1993 speech was released two days ago. That was the nail in the coffin for me. No way could we put her on the bench.
Yes, let's leave the "blowing" to Mr. Sulu.
Hee hee hee. I love those insults. Please continue to hurl them while you ignore the logic of my position. DU, I think that's the most serious offense I can be accused of here. It is also totally untrue. I really do have to get ready for work now so I'll have to read any further insults later. I hope y'all have a real good weekend.
'Found a way around the Constitution?' You mean we protested a dumb decision, and our elected representatives heard us, but the Constitution doesn't allow dissent now? Check out the First Amendment sometime, sister!
Stop bashing the base and get in line to support the new conservative nominee, whoever that is. Or get off the bus. Either way, STFU about Miers. You RINOs are really getting whiny, having lost your very first head-to-head battle with conservatives. We beat you in public instead of letting you get away with your usual RINO tactic of slipping in the knife when the lights were dimmed, and you can't handle that. What's so damn sad is you babies can't accept you've NEVER had public support. You even have to pretend you're conservatives to get elected.
And one more thing: your silly 'process' argument is a joke, just like the hearings you wanted us all to wait for. What was she going to tell us, her favorite color and shoe size? She sure as hell wasn't going to address anything controversial--Roberts didn't, and according to you, she's his equal or better, so why would she? Oh, that's right, because she was the best person for the job, how could I possibly forget that? /sarc
I don't think you truly understand the process. Sure, the President can appoint whoever he sees fit. If conservatives don't like the choice, what are we supposed to do? Wait until the hearings begin and the nominee has built some momentum and then quietly call our "elected representatives" and tell them we don't like the nominee? That's not the way you get action in Washington. You have to make your voice heard early and often. The process worked EXACTLY the way it should have in this case. When it became clear to the President that the base was not going to stand for this nominee, she withdrew her name.
I suspect that Bushes little buddy Specter will do everything possible to thwart a true conservative.
The 'logic' of your position. Sheesh. You say you can't even listen to conservatives you 'don't know enough about' talking about the SCOTUS. But in the same breath you're shilling for the ACTUAL NOMINATION of a no-name, not a proven conservative, to the SCOTUS.
Yeah, that's RINO 'logic' all right. You people slay me.
Wait. Can't go there. Her whole life has been in a change until about the mid 90's. Dobson etal all knew this going in. They stated that she was firmly rooted....now.
Dobson saw the political reality, and announced it once it was "safe". The reality was his followers were increasingly uncomfortable with the nominee. Her withdrawl made it safe to claim his unease.
