Of course, I agree with you completely. The hypocrisy of allowing the hateful speech of leftist or nihilist "revolutionaries" while punishing the other side is sickening. Period.

I had a chance to work in academia. It took me about 30 seconds to decide, "Naahhh!"

You are wrong on a number of points:

1. The name of the school is Duquesne.

2. Ryan Miner has not, nor has he ever, been sanctioned for having a differing viewpoint on the issue of having a gay straight alliance at Duquesne. He has been sanctioned for making remarks that deliberately attacked individuals. He did not refer to the action as being subhuman as he now claims. He referred to gay people as being subhuman. That is clearly the difference.

3. He most surely should be sanctioned for using those words despite his academic level and age. He needs to be taught that you can not throw those terms around lightly and he needs to learn some form of respect and humility. The fact that he refuses to even write objectively on the subject shows his intolerance. His comments were not civilized nor well articulated.

He has not been wronged and his civil rights have not been violated. I applaud the University for its fair handling of the situation. Please read the following website to get affiliated with the facts on the case:

The University is right on in their handling of the situation.

What about the teachings of the church that refer to compassion and understanding?

How has he shown any of that in his arguments and inflammatory speech?

Would it be very Christian of the University to allow such speech to mar the work they do to reach out to students facing this issue?

How does it help a student who faces these concerns day in and day out? It makes it nearly impossible for them to live their lives.

The Ryan Miner logic would say you help them by constantly chastising their situation and putting their lives to a constant scrutiny which he refuses to apply to any other aspect of campus life.
