The fight will be what matters. Not if you get your ass kicked.

(If you're not willing to give Harriett Miers a hearing, I don't give a damn what you think.)
To: OXENinFLA
This is so much better than her going through the hearing and then either not getting voted out of committee or having Repubs. vote against her. Yes it is.
Now the best thing the WH can do is briefly express why her stepping aside is good, i.e., don't go on a blame game against opposition. Then get to the job of choosing another nominee.

I would like to go down to the Senate and stand up in the gallery and tell them all to stop the posturing and do what they are paid to do with our tax money !!! I'd probabably get arrested. especially if you fired a couple of rounds into the air to get their attention before you spoke.... :)

I pray to God he nominates Janice.

JRB is a Libertarian and cannot be trusted by Conservatives of Freepers. You guys have to come up with a better candidate or you'll have mandatory gay marriage and adoption forced down everybody's throats.

"And now all the Miers haters are gearing up to do the same to the next person the President nominates."
Not if he gives us a decent nominee this time.
Do you think that Justice Brown would have been dissed by Conservatives? No, it's the RINOs who have been Miers biggest supporters who would have gone after Brown.

You're right. Krauthammer's good.

Congratulations guys who were against Miers. You won a very tough political fight. I am saying this sincerely and not out of sarcasm or spite since I was a Miers supporter.
Again Congratulations!

To: TXBSAFH
Let's see. We are the enemy because we recognize the mistakes Bush has made and argue for correction? Do I have that right? No matter that we are conservatives trying to bring about a conservative based Republican Party and get this country on track, we are bad because we don't suffer foolish moves and insist that the president listen to those who supported his election. How's that work exactly?
To: Dansong
Fisrt I was thinking of Farragut's advice. Now, after thinking about the Senate RINOs, another military man comes to mind:
As you know, you go to war with the army you have, not the army you might want or wish to have at a later time.
Donald Rumsfeld, Secretary of Defense
Darn the torpedoes, Mr. President.

No bull, Bill Frist need to declare all-out nuclear war in the Senate and get something done for a change. lThe Republicans need to grow some cajones and get the job done. If they don't, they will lose the conservative wing of the party.
To: rodguy911
Run away, run away, run away!!! Your governing philosophy seems rooted in fear of the enemy. "Oh no, we must'nt make them
mad at us! They might not
like a real conservative! Let's not make waves!"
Enough. It's time the battle was fought.

I just popped in to DU to see what was going on. They're all saying this was a setup all along with the plan to withdraw the nomination at the right time to take the focus away from "flamegate".
To: SoFloFreeper
Now that Harriet Miers has withdrawn, I hope that President Bush takes Rush Limbaugh's advice regarding the new nominee.
