I can't imagine why....
I do not, though I do have a Bianchi X15 shoulder rig long enough for a High Standard HD-Military with an 11-inch bull barrel. And a kitchen spatula with a Fairbairn fighting knife attached.
Why don't you ask your captain?
I am bowing in your general direction, Maestro!
O.K., I'm off to Wal-Mart for that chubby pistol, and a spatula.
Whole lotta shakin' goin on.
Many thanks for the details.
I got a big chuckle out of this line. "Further deponent knoweth not much."
Yeah, sure Old Man, keep talking the dummy line but it won't swing here. We know who to stop and listen to and who to walk around.
I hunt hogs in south texas with a handgun. I love handguns period. I shot 7 hogs with a colt 45acp, none ran more that 30 yards, I was using 180grain jacket alumninum hollow points. Range 30-40 yards, Wichester calls these silver tip hollow points. But they are alumnium. I cant say enough..about the 45.
I shot a hog with my beretta 40, and it knocked the hog down, but I had to shoot is twice more to kill it.
I have hit numerous hogs with the 357 pistol, and they keep running, for long distances.. The caliber over penetrates,
The 45acp goes in...tranfers all energy, and does not exit.
If I am going hog hunting with a handgun. I am using a 45
Humans are much thinner and have less muscle mass, so These hunting result MAY not be worth a flip, for self defense purposes..
Don’t listen to these fools about “.45 has more knock-down power” they’re just old fashioned and arrogant. Humans aren’t bowling pins. They’re incredibly elastic. If a .45 ever did knock someone down, it was their knees buckling from central nervous system disturbance. As far as the .45 is bigger thus makes a bigger hole- Like that 5% of an inch over .40 matters. What are you gonna wait for, them to bleed to death? There are some folks here on to somethin-.357Mag does rule, but you need a .357 SIG or .40S&W for your needs.
Dude I’ve one of those things. I let some moron shoot it once and its so big and heavy, he dropped the P.O.S, landed on the business end of the muzzle(?) and went off! I could understand if it struck dead on the hammer but... The F’er jams all day, everyday, too. Id get rid of it but chicks dig it and I bought it for $200 at an estate sale from some old woman.
If Your a Local Cop a 9mm or .40 is the best choice.
Anyone who says a 9mm will not stop a bad guy is plum Loco or there shooting crap ammo or Hit the bad guy in the Foot., use 127gr Winchester Ranger +P+ its a 1350fps penetrating shredder, It used to be called Black Talon and all serious law enforcement Personnel use it.
If Your a Highway Patrol or Marshal I recommend the .357sig as You may need to shoot through a car door or glass and this round was designed to match the Feared .357 mag 125gr that Lawmen gave legendary status too.
The .45 is to much in the urban area or city and not enough in rural area as it has less penetration than a 9mm or a .40 and More recoil than either.
Even the Texas Rangers traded there .45’s for the awesome 357 sig.
Do Not Get a 357 mag Revolver unless You can hit a moving target with 1 round every time, or You’ll likely end up with a tag on Your Toe in a Gun Battle.
The 357 mag has to much recoil and even the massive trigger pull is a problem in a high stress situation.
In a Gun Fight with shots fired at You ,I bet no one in here could hit a basketball at 30 feet with a 357 mag revolver.
1. they would be in DA mode as not suspecting and that long hard trigger pull woo.
You may Get Some Clown saying he Could but a Monkey with a 9mm would have shot him 5 times before he got the damn trigger pulled on a 357 revolver.(its a good Coyote Gun Though)
And BTW it was John Browning who Developed the 1911 not Colt Arms (They Never invented Crap).
Your on Crack
“I hunt hogs in south texas with a handgun”
You Shot a hog with a 45 and every other gun on the planet and only the 45 dropped it right away.
Where did you shoot the hog with the .357 in the hoof LMAO.
I Can Shoot a hog with a 22 short and drop it where it stands.
A 357 would blow the damn hogs head off.
As for hunting hogs , all you need is a 9mm and a decent shot.
I would take a 9mm over a 45 any day of the week.
I could also put 15 holes rapid fire in a 6” circle at 30 feet to Your 1 with Your 45...
A 45 is a good Weapon but for personal defence the 9 or .40 is better, Ask any LEA..
We have used them all.
I would say either will do and it could boil down to personal preference.
40 or better is a good mantra....except when talking about .357 mag....my personal wheel gun preference
That is not true....I have hunted boar all over the Southeast.
Typically folks use 30-30 and up in rifle....slower bulky bullet
or .357 mag or .44 mag or another big fast caliber
you cannot just shoot hogs with anything
Sure you can. Just be ready for the consequences. ;)
FWIW: Federal Air Marshals use .357 SIG.
With frangible projectiles? That's a hot round. NM State Police switched to it because it largely duplicated the stop stats of the .357 Mag 125 grain load, but with greater capacity and cotrollability in a light package.
lol.....
I have shot most of mine black powder with a .54 Jaeger
not sure where one would shoot a .22short on a grown hog?
i’ve never gotten that close
Who cares where he, she, it’s at. I LOVE gun talk!
I'd use the "Texas brain shot" up the rump and then climb a tree I'd outfitted with two weeks worth of food and wait for infection to set in.
