I think people are confusing "speed" with meth. There's a difference. Years ago, this used to be the meth capital of the world, according to the sheriff. It's a horrible drug, and it is very easy to spot users. Meth permanently changes a person's personality. They'll steal the paint off your picket fence.
My bf's ex wife became a tweaker. He hates tweakers to this day. They stole everything that wasn't nailed down, among other things too personal to mention.

"And yet now I'm a crook when I try to buy more than 10 days or so worth of pseudoephedrine drugs for my occasional sinus issues, all because the meth makers use it. Grr."
No, it's all because you are owned by the STATE and have no freedom.

>>>Meth does not promote good hygeine.
Hygeine is part of the problem, but most of it is the Beta Blockers that block nerves and roots getting the oxygen it needs. Or something like that. I'm not a pathologist.

"See, I'm all for personal responsibility. PEOPLE are destroying small towns. What you are saying is like saying guns kill people. Guns don't kill people, people kill people. Guns are the method. Same as drugs are the method that PEOPLE use to destroy themselves and sometimes taking others down with it."
Congrats!
It took 45 posts for someone to call it like it is.
Meth never killed anyone.
People (losers) kill themselves.
Another poster wanted to hear "comments"?
Well, here's one. I live in a small town (population 5200) in Connecticut. We don't have a meth problem. I guess our kids are smarter than the dumb-a$$e$ in rural Oklahoma or Arizona. We don't have ex-firemen blowing cops brains out either...maybe we're behind the times or something.
I don't understand the thought process of taking drugs....but then again, I've never had more than 3 beers at one sitting either. I'm not being self righteous here...as I mentioned, I can not understand WHY someone would voluntarily do themselves harm like this.
The problem BEGINS with the PERSON doing the drugs...

I'm sure that Legalizing Sex with Children will stop all sex with children...
Given your logic that's the case right?>>>
That is quite possibly the stupidest argument I have yet to see in debating prohibition. Since you can't comprehend the difference between an adult doing harm to themselves and an adult doing harm to a child, I'm going to end this debate.

Yes, and we have to think of all those poor victims that meth overtook and you MUST give up your right to sinus medication. Responsible person? Who cares! We have METH HEADS TO THINK ABOUT!!!

No...It's your Position that making something illegal legal will keep it from happening...That simply isn't the case...In fact it's completely Ridiculous.
Making Meth Legal will make the problem much worse.

No, that is not my argument at all. There will always be addicts. Always have been.

"I think the source of this article, and the media have agendas on the drug issue. That said, given what I have read on the subject of meth specifically, I think it's one of the more evil substances concocted by man."
It may seem like hype to those who don't have regular contact with these people.
I happen to live in the area that Newsweek described in its article. The article was accurate.
The local police cannot keep up with this problem.
Children are most definitely being neglected and exposed to dangerous toxic chemicals.
People are turning into zombies - I've seen it.
There is a meth lab less than 1/2 a mile from my home. I don't know why the police can't bust this guy - but he's been in business for a long time.
This is a poor area. These people can't afford to buy coke or heroin - but they're making tons of this stuff.
When they're high they often go 2 to 3 days without sleeping or eating.
I hope this is a passing fad - but I'm afraid it's not.

and this is more than a coupel of addicts...this is almost the entire generation.
While you preach...they die. Live with yourself.

My cousin's wife has been on drugs for years, that could be her picture. She looks worse than a 90 yr old woman.

I know in our town it is running rampant. All you have to do is talk to a policeman. They are making some good busts and they're even getting to the money men.

You can't find blue-tip strike anywhere matches here (upstate NY). I asked the store manager why, the reply was that the blue tips can be used to make meth. Even across the border in PA the tip of the strike anywhere matches are now all white.

This meth of course is the finest from beautiful Mexico. Oh yes, the "Mexican Mafia." Legendary among lowlifes around here. "Don't mess around with him-- he's with the Mexican Mafia, he'll kill you!"

It's become a real pain to buy medicine containing sudafed just because there are some morons out there who want to distill the tables, snort the stuff and watch their teeth fall out. Still, I don't appreciate the inconvenience and it seems the Drug War needs to be constantly fueled because equilibrium is legalize freedom and allow individuals to put into their body anything they want.
Remember freedom?
I don't appreciate having to ask for sudafed! This is so overkill.
