An indictment will not necessarily lead to a trial. Libby might plea bargain just to avoid the risks inherent in a jury trial on trumped up charges and harsher penalties. If there is a trial it might be for lying to the Grand Jury and not the underlying allegations, with the result that the desired testimony would never be elicited.

Huh? Didn't the WP story today state that at least ONE of the people Wilson spoke to said that Iraqi representatives indicated to him they wanted to expand their business dealings? He further said he took this to mean they wanted to purchase yellow cake.

Unless Wilson or his wife lied under oath to this grand jury - they can't be indicted. Sorry to burst people's bubble.

To my knowledge neither Valerie nor Joe have been subpoened by this grand jury to testify - and that to me is a gross miscarriage of justice.

These are the people bringing the charges which caused the investigation and I am curious why they would not be called to testify as part of the investigation.

Maybe one of our lawyer people can help answer those questions.

Oh puhleese...you need to read more of the FR threads on this subject instead of listening to the likes of Chrissy Matthews...explain to me how Wilson came back from Niger with irrefutable fact that Iraq had NOT been trying to seek nuclear materials...

Reuters is reporting that Fitzgerald sent FBI agents to interview the neighbors of Plame/Wilson earlier this week to see if the neighbors had known that Plame worked for the CIA. This is telling.

It seems to me that talking to the neighbors is something he should have considered doing at the start of the investigation rather than at the end.
