Bookmarked.
Chertoff and GWB are full of malarky on this. Chertoff said every illegal caught will be returned. He then explained that meant at the border, not those already here. This is a complete farce since many will find other ways in if they know they can get over on the sucker taxpayer by coming some other route.
Addtionally, if someone is here on a guest worker plan and he or she buys a house, will they be forced to sell it? Of course not, this plan is a sham and sellout and will be GWB's legacy. Viva la Mexico.
Sort of like a "temporary" tax aren't they?
Not believable in the slightest so long as he's bent on rewarding those who have come here ILLEGALLY.
Yep. And if they keep ignoring their constitutional duty..and the Mexicans begin their takeover of "azatlan"..there will be HELL to pay.

Note that it is mainly Congress' responsibility. All Congress has to do is to supply the $$$$ and criminalize not securing the border for themselves and the executive branch.

I have no disagreement. It is Congress responsibility and I will not vote for the congressman or woman who fails on the Border Issue.
But the POTUS can order the Homeland Security Director to do the job he is being paid by We the People to do. And the POTUS should not enter into agreements with foreign potentates like Vicente Fox that will create a "Union of the Americas".
Bush is pretty darn responsible for this mess, I'd say.
Note that at the rate of 14 miles of fenced border installed per year it's only 139 years from completion.
I'd also suggest that Bush explain his position.
It appears that Bush will not be doing anything substantive on the issue, so I'd suggest that Congress be pressured along with Bush.
Don't worry.
Every 20 years, one of our republican presidents will make them all citizens. And the cycle will repeat itself.
All it was, was a con job to get his (permanent) guest worker program accepted.Pig with lipstick. Bush is a con man.
I took out a piece of string and ran it along the border of a USA map..from California border with mexico to the end of Texas border with mexico..it was nearly TWO THOUSAND Miles!

You know what? That would be a huge improvement. As far as a guest worker program goes, we do need increased legal immigration and a guest worker program might do a good job of screening.
One caveat however, the "guest" must apply from their home country. Gate crashers MUST not get any advantage.
Protect our borders and coastlines from all foreign invaders!

Be Ever Vigilant ~ Bump!
They key word is "entrant". This does not apply to people already here illegally, it applies to "entrants" they catch at the border.
President Bush then reinforced this comment in a separate venue, stating:
We've got to work to ensure that those who are caught are returned to their home countries as soon as possible.
Once again, this applies to future "entrants".
Before I go any further, just let me say that these statements are among the most welcome announcements from the Bush administration...
Only if you welcome more B.S.
An American guest worker program cannot work as anything other than a back-door amnesty for our current illegal aliens.
But, of course, that is the whole point of the program.
Bingo!
I am in favor of legal immigration provided these people get two financial sponsors and some kind of payment bond to guaranty to welfare payments.
I thought hannity did a good job pointing out the doubletalk from Chertoff.
I would ask him:
Ok, let's say you are going to return every entrant caught at the border. Let's say they get through. Do they still get deported or do they fall under the gues worker plan????
