GWB should be ashamed of himself. This is a joke and a sad reflection upon how low his administration has sunk if he says this is the best he could do.I can not imagine how he could have blundered any worse than with her. Heavyweight conservatives have worked much of their life to get in the position of changing the direction of the SC. GW had numerous QUALIFIED candidates & he shoves this at us. I am totally insulted with this move. I feel sorry for Jeb. He might have been the ONE of this clan make a great legacy. After these two I can't get myself to put another one in. 41 was failure & GW is now a dismal letdown.

But she was the best. Of all the presidential butt-kissing women former Texas Lottery commission members who happened to be standing next to him at the time, she was the best. That's all you need to know...

The nominee may be a rolling epiphany. Gore to Bush to Hecht to Scalia. A triple play. Keep an open mind.

"if you aren't good enough, rely on quotas. Set asides."
"Kind of appropriate since the President picked her to fill a quota, don't you think?"
Harriet is now a walking billboard for why affirmative discrimination is a disaster even for those it's supposed to benefit. She's a national laughingstock because Dubya, at his wife's behest, filled a quota slot with an underqualified crony who's now in way over her head.
The ultimate irony of this absurd nomination is that if a demoncrat put up this quota queen, the REPUBLICANS would be stopping the nomination in its tracks.
End the insanity. Withdraw this sorry nomination. Now!

To think of the qualified people in the wings who got passed over for this is just downright maddening and pathetic.

I'd be surprised if she's not history by 6pm on Tuesday.

I want JRB or Luttig or someone clearly qualified. No more Texas cronies and lackeys. This is expected of the RATS, not us.

So she:
Voted for affirmative action for the fire department, but she was just representing her constituents.
Favored quotas for the state bar, but she was just representing the feelings of the state bar
Was in favor of the quotas for the recent supreme court case regarding the state of michigan's university quotas, but was just representing what the white house wanted.
Best case scenario: She is a blank slate who does whatever she is told.
Worst case scenario: A pattern of behavior is emerging, and she's not really that conservative, especially WRT quotas and affirmative action.
Take your pick. The evidence keeps mounting against her.
Would you be justifying all this the same way if this was a clinton nominee???

These hearings are going to be more laughs than a barrel full of monkeys.
But don't worry, James Dobson had a personal conversation with an unnamed person close to the White House (actually it was a tourist from Oklahoma standing on Pennsylvania Ave.) who says she's really a staunch conservative in spite of everything she's said.
