> As president of the Texas Bar, she represented the feelings of the Texas Bar.

So she acted as stenographer and presenter. Boy, she's so qualified for SCOTUS, I can hardly contain myself!

"if you aren't good enough, rely on quotas.
Set asides."

Kind of appropriate since the President picked her to fill a quota, don't you think?

Ya, and she was probably still a Dem then too, when she ran as a "quota queen," for the state bar leadership (well not exactly, but whatever) per your paradigm. There is nothing here, time to move on.

"with a more diverse array of talent and backgrounds"

Talent and background have nothing to do with it. It is all about race and ethnicity, as you know very well.

I just don't see any way that Miers Bush can survive this.

What a stupid, stupid move. Yet he digs in deeper.

This is a very good observation, and it is a huge problem with the Miers nomination. How can she influence/lead fellow justices if she can't write clear, concise opinions? We don't need a justice who can't write what she means.

But she was the best. Of all the presidential butt-kissing women former Texas Lottery commission members who happened to be standing next to him at the time, she was the best.

She's the wrong choice. President Bush needs an exit strategery.

Sounds like the Dems Iraq talking points.

As president of the Texas Bar, she represented the feelings of the Texas Bar.

Which she was nominated to, voted to, and which she accepted of her own volition.

Also, please show where she has since repudiated these views, if you are claiming she no longer holds them and/or never did.

What a wasted opportunity. To think so many of us have been waiting years for this moment.

I just can't comprehend how foolish GWB is at times. There are so many reasons why this pick is terrible, yet one why we are told it is good: Trust Me.

Huh????????????????
