according to the statement, "but stresses that both issues should be viewed as shared responsibilities."
Yes I agree. It is our responsibility to deport them back to the hellhole you call a country and it is your responsibility to make sure they never again reach our country illegaly.

Mexico's illegal immigrants have nothing to worry about. Bush has no intention of closing our borders. This latest gesture is nothing more than a ploy to appease the conservative base.

"Bush administration officials appeared on Capitol Hill on Tuesday to promote the guest worker plan, saying action is needed beyond improving border patrols to stem the flow of illegal immigrants. "We're going to need more than just brute enforcement," Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff told the Senate Judiciary Committee. "We're going to need a temporary worker program as well."The real reason comes out.........

I don't know why the Mexican president puts up with this crap. He should teach the USA a lesson and call all of his citizens back and not allow any more of them to sneak into this country. Maybe put up a fence or something. Yeah, that would teach us a lesson.

Just as Harry Reid saying he likes Bush's nomination of Harriet Miers should make one have reservations, Fox's endorsement of Bush's Amnesty Guest Worker enema program should also make one have serious reservations.

"recognize the contributions of migrants" - I'd love to hear what these contributions supposedly consist of.

I have no problem with a guest worker program AS LONG AS the only way you can obtain a permit is from the American Embassy in your home country. It needs to be made abundantly clear that anyone caught in this country without a valid workers permit will be immediately deported and their name placed on a list that will prohibit them from EVER obtaining a permit in the future. They should be given 90 days to leave the country and then enforce that law with a vengeance.
The same with employing illegals. Stiff fines for anyone caught employing illegals (after the permit law goes into effect) with the second offense requiring a prison sentence of a minimum of 10 years in the federal penitentiary.

WHY DO WE CONTINUE TO TALK ABOUT DEPORTING THEM???? THEY WILL DEPORT THEMSELVES IF WE TAKE AWAY ALL BENEFITS (and I mean all benefits) AND PENALIZE EMPLOYERS FOR HIRING THEM.
Am I the only one who thinks this is the case???
