This is EXACTLY the type of situation that the US Constitution was written to protect US citizens against. Thanks to the Supreme Court, we no longer have any protection from misuse of Eminent Domain under the Constitution.

As a practical matter, why is the US moving to make things more difficult for property owners when the US has tediously created the most comprehensive land ownership system in the world? The US has had general private property ownership for only a century, but that is the oldest such system in the world, and obviously has led to the US being the richest country on earth. Why start reversing the process? Do we really want to become like Argentina, Haiti, Somalia to any degree whatsoever?
