Where does the hypothetical designer get the knowledge to be able to design something?

From her mother.

Sure. But God influencing or directing is not the same thing as forcing "every single aspect.

I suppose that's right.

The correctness of a theory is independent of its use. Bombs obey the laws of physics and chemistry, even when used by bad people.

Eugenics will work even if it's an evil thing to do. I might add, however, that Eugenics has additional undesirable side effects. When you narrow the genetic diversity of a population you reduce its adaptability. Taken to extremes you get an Irish potato crop that is entirely a clone of one plant. When the blight comes along there are no resistant individuals.

The correctness of a theory is independent of its use.

The reason I'm being such a pain about this is that I used to believe exactly this, but I've come to have my doubts. Theory purified of use, of practice, is nigh impossible for us mortals. Human action frames the formulation, the confirmation, the application, and the instruction of the theory, not to mention its revision. The village atheist who wears the Darwin-fish, or the pious Darwinian who holds that evolution proves the grandeur of God, are both going to frame the discussion differently, however subtly they do it. The ID controversy, however blunt and philosophically flawed it is, has at least exposed a bit of the framework that is too often ignored.

Of course that's exactly what the Left says about science.

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.
