Unless Meirs makes a total fool of herself in the hearings, she will be confirmed. Frum is fighting the good fight perhaps, but he is losing. Public support looks to be in her camp. Her appointment is disliked by less people than the last time, and its only an intense opposition to her that would change anything.

Gee. I always thought testosterone allowed me to appreciate more fully that which is truly important.

Of course, the dark side has suggested they will go after any senator that votes for her. If this could be made into an absolute pledge by both sides, it could be an interesting referendum on which group the senators fear more.

Which is entirely appropriate. I apprised my Senators of my point of view, and why I hold it. If I can't form an reasoned opinion of the nominee, then I have no ethical basis to agree or disagree with how my Senator votes on the nomination.

You don't have to compose them, there is a site which is already collecting all the two sides (although I didn't see much if anything pro-miers at the site from Beldar, who has about 25 reasons to support Miers over at BeldarBlog.

Pro-Miers and Con-Miers Arguments with Sources

This is not an endorsement of the information at this site, just passing along the information.

If I am asked to decide pro-Miers or con-Miers, I choose to trust President Bush and his decision over trusting Nation Redux and Frum, Anne Coulter, or even Rush. But, since I am not forced to, I am witholding any decision until the congress has an opportunity to question her.

Until then, I wish all these whiners would shut up just because THEIR pick wasn't picked.

I agree with Rush that a stealth nomination was one of appearing weak. Myself, I would rather keep my powder dry as long as Miers is a great pick. I want a battle, but let's have the battle on tax cuts and social security reform.

* bump * Thanks for that link. I haven't visited it yet.

I figure a personally composed rationale, if coherent, is more persuasive than picking one from a menu that others have prepared. It indicates a degree of passion that is absent from "check the box" position taking.

Good points.

I'm curious about something that I hope you can answer. Where do Frum and Fund stand on the abortion issue? Do you know?

Speaking woman to woman, don't you agree that it's time Ann does something about those dark roots? It's been bugging the heck out of me since she started making the media rounds over Miers. That girl needs to get off FOX and out to her hairdresser.

So in reality the anti-Miers support is slipping. Don't let Ol'Sparky know about this. You don't want the poor soul crying on us do ya?

I don't know about Fund, but Frum is pro-choice.

When only 12% agree with YOUR position David, it is NOT your opponents that are in serious trouble. Sorry you have such a personal beef with Ms Miers. What's the matter David, she the one that told you the White House was firing you? But cling to the nonsense NRO. It is been really enlightening finding out who are the REAL Conservatives and who are the whiny elitists who want to dictate to the Conservative Movement what to think about everything. Thank you NRO for taking off the mask and exposing yourselves as just another bunch of Dinosaur Media self appointed gatekeepers. Have a nice life joining Pat Buchanan in the whinny, self-important, perpetually angry, but totally irrelevant, wing of the Conservative Movement!

If Miers bombs, she'll be voted down. If not, she'll be voted in.

Uh huh, and CFR will be shot down by the Supreme Court. Another bit of brilliant stategery gone awry.

You can count on the f'ing pundits -- Frum and Fund -- to publish their wishes and dreams, can't you?

I think that's the worst thing about this. These two (and a few compatriots) trying to manufacture a lack of support.

To tell you the truth, I've never noticed. I've always thought that she needs a good cheeseburger.

Miers will win confirmation and she'll be more of a conservative then SD O'Conner was.

The last piece of toast I had was more conservative than O'Conner, but that doesn't mean I'd want it on the Supreme Court.

It's the difference in men and women. They think from different hemispheres of the body.
