That had to be a little creepy.

He was rescued by boat from an upper floor balcony...he obviously knew the home was in ruins when he left it.

Glad you posted this. The last I knew was that he was missing and the worst was feared.

I mean Fats seeing his own epitaph had to be kind of creepy for him.

Fats will always be OK in my book. Despite his success - he's made quite a bit of money from all those gold records - he never moved to LA or NYC or tried to be a national celebrity.
He's so real he didn't have to try to keep it real.

Welcome home Fats!
Wilma is on the way.
To: Chi-townChief
Oh...I definitely agree with that and I do find the story ver y interesting in terms of the damage he sustained.
(It's just the headline that makes it seem like he was totally unaware of the damage he was going to return to when, in reality, he had to have a pretty good idea when he knew that there was 8 feet of water downstairs.)
To: Chi-townChief
Thanks for posting this. I'd been wondering how Fats was doing.

Domino's house was a mansion of pink, yellow and lavender decorated with such touches as his "Cadillac couch," resembling the rear of a 1950s car. The room was left in shambles. Hmmm, probably just as well. Sounds awfully tacky.

From what I've seen, Fats proved you don't need to be a slimeball to be a rocker. I saw him about 15 years ago, and his wife sat in a chair at the edge of the stage while he performed, and most of his band seemed to consist of friends and family. Seems like a down-home kind of guy.

Sad to hear once again about how the "poor" were unable to leave in advance of the storm, and had to be rescued by 'guvmint.

Sounds like a victim of 'While You Were Out'...
To: Chi-townChief
Fox News reported that out of twenty some gold records in his house, only 3 remained. The rest were looted.
One of his most prized possessions, a photo of him and Elvis was damaged beyond repair.

Sounds like a bar in Jerome, Arizona!
Was Elvis the interior decorator? Many don't realize this, but Elvis is still alive.

Oh yeah. Music is definitely a family affair in the Big Easy.

Wow, I didn't know Fats was still alive.
That's great though. I love Fats Domino. He's probably my favorite 50's era singer/piano man.
