Does anyone remember back in 1979 when the Sunnis were the "good" Muslims and the Shiites were the evil Muslims?

I thought the only good Muslim ... oh nevermind ...

Of course, sorry I left out the phrase
"in the Arab world."

" Since China never became a Soviet supply state, that gave Ronald Reagan the ability to spend the Soviet Union into bankruptcy. That could not have been done had the Soviet Union and China united. "

I agree that China was never considered the “good communist”, but a lot of strategies look brilliantly planned in retrospect, but are simply stumbled into as events occur.

Sunni's collective azzez

They should just form the Iraq Democrat Party, they got the same smarmy self important mindet along with the whiny self-pitying tone that has worked SO well for the party of perpetual loserdom, the Democrats, here in the USA. Just make peace with reality Sunnis. You are losers. Learn to embrace your loserdom.

Umm Ronald Reagan did NOT spend the SU into bankruptcy. Their collapsing failed economic model did that. Just amazing how almost 20 years latter all the good little Marxist in the Dinosaur Media still do NOT get it.

Just heard a correspondant on NPR say that the insurgents had planned

RIGHT. Like they would KNOW this. COME ON LMS and Dims. Give it up. YOU LOST. You were wrong. Quit trying desperately to make a new spin lie up to deny reality

What we are seeing is a reverse re-distribution of wealth. This is the closest I've ever felt to being a democrat.

Do what all good Conservatives do. Find a different job or start your own business instead of sitting on your butt whining about it demanding "the powers that be" fix it for you.

I'll ask you what a former Ohio Governor and fellow Jackson County Ohio resident once asked me.

Did you ever notice that dumb people always think smart people are just lucky?

It's my wife and that is what she loves. She's been at it since 79. And I too cannot afford some of the luxuries Americans become accustomed to because of the hurt. I don't think it practical to tell everyone to quit their jobs and find greener pastures because they are getting raped at the pump. Sometimes the answer is somewhere in between.

Nope, what'll happen is what always happens. Sh1t rolls downhill until it hits bottom. Lawn guys, cable TV, and other marginal expeditures will be eliminated. The guy who'll take it the hardest is the guy at the bottom. The guy that can't put it on anyone else. People won't rip their lives up because their gas price doubled or their wife got a pay cut working with the airlines. They'll just put the little guy under instead. So tell Flores my lawn guy to get another job. He's the one that's going under.

Still taught that at our high school.

Oh, my. That's awesome. May this image become as widely heralded as the one of Saddam's statue being toppled.

" Did you ever notice that dumb people always think smart people are just lucky?"

There’s a big gap between calling each success lucky and re-justifying each as brilliant strategy in retrospect.

Sharia-law is Sharia- law....now the only difference is the people of Iraq have a whole gaggle of morons leading them, instead of one. I would argue that they are not really a free people, yet. This kinda places them on the same footing as Iran.

What a piece of AP liberal spin. The headline says "heavy Sunni Arab opposition," yet the vote tally in one of those Sunni provinces is about 4-to-1 in favor! Evidence continues to be the bane of the left.

This is why I believe that democracy will succeed in Iraq....

Where people have a choice, I believe they will choose peace, security, and prosperity for their country and their family over oppression and violence.....

Freedom and peace will not come easy, there is still a large minority that would rather see chaos and violence....but in time that to shall pass....

That is why we must stay the course and see this campaign through to the end. Our country, our military men and women, have given far to much to see their sacrifices dismissed due to cowardice and lack of conviction...IMHO
