Why are men being intentionally passed over as candidates for this crucial position regarding the future direction of America? And why doesn't anybody care? Because nobody cares if a woman or a man occupies a seat on the Supreme Court. Why not a woman?
That is, unless you belong to this:

Also saw that Armstrong Williams came out in favor of Miers. Hadn't he been caught taking money from the WH to write supportive columns? Yes. The practice is referred to as "covert propaganda."
It's rampant. Check here -> GAO - Covert Propaganda

Yes you are correct, but where was his outrage back then? Surely he knew her enough to mention her name, but why not express his objection back then if he thought she was such a bad choice.... IMHO, in Frum's case, this is selective outrage.
I have my doubts about Miers, her testimony in 1989 against the Federalist Society bothers me the most, but I have no reason to believe that President Bush would nominate a liberal, and I also know it is his choice, not ours.
18 Committee Members and 100 Senators will judge her qualifications and if you and I or any of these Pundits have an objection to this nomination, we all need to contact our Senators. For Pundits to be calling for her to step aside before the process even starts is arrogance I'm used to seeing from Liberals, not Conservatives. I would have picked Janice Rogers Brown and dared the Dems to Filibuster her nomination, buts that's me and since I'm not the POTUS, it's moot

I wasn't exactly happy with Roberts being a stealth pick but he had superb qualifications. No one doubts he can fill William Rehnquist's shoes because A) he's the top lawyer in the country, B) he once clerked for the late Justice and C) he has a record as a judge for the Court Of Appeals in D.C. I'm not saying Miers doesn't deserve to sit on the Court; Melanie's right that she should be nominated to an Appellate Court, get up to speed and establish a record and the next time a SCOTUS position opens up, she can be named to the Court. As it is, she's both an unknown and untested and that's two strikes against her.

Would you please explain (using the Constitution) how Harriet Miers is unqualified. Please don't inject your own personal opinion, make the case is if you were a lawyer, not just a knee jerk reactionary

Lino Graglia and William Rusher have endorsed her nomination?Yeah, and David Frum too! [/sarcasm]
Seriously, besides the usual garden-variety, everyday smears of Miers critics you see here all the time (like the unutterably vile smear of Laura Ingraham day before yesterday for example), have you noticed the up tic in absolute, shameless, bold faced LIES being peddled by the 'zoids over this?

I'll view her with the same disdain as I have for anybody else that ignores the gorilla in the room. Do you realize you just tarred the WH and the President? And of course the Senate. None of whom wanted a fight, so they all agreed to pick a nominee that could survive the filibuster, that is, the President had to get 60 votes, to get his nominee.

If she is such an inspired choice, then why doesn't the President simply follow the advice of Melanie Morgan, Mickey Kaus, and so many others, and appoint her to a federal circuit court, and then-when another vacancy opens up-nominate her for a spot on the SCOTUS?

Answer the challenge I posed you in post #54. If you have any decency, back up your charge against Frum. If you don't, I don't have even the time of day for you.

Of course, your'e also forgetting in the 'against' column, Rush Limbaugh, David Limbaugh, Mark Steyn, Peggy Noonan, John Fund, almost all of national review online, and many more. The presentation is much more concise, don't you agree, if all of those opposing are simply not mentioned?
