Exactly. The story has been elevated to discussion in a widely circulated, highly-regarded publication. The number of people who now know about the incident at all increased expotentially. The blogosphere is not available on every newsstand in the country, nor lying about airports, hotel lobbies, and doctors' waiting rooms.

Well, this is a sentence that just begs to be parsed. As written, this means that "Mr. Hinrich's family, university officials and the Federal Bureau of Investigation say Mr. Hinrichs suffered from depression, and the explosion was an isolated event" are untrue claims.
Can the Wall Street Journal buy a semicolon, please? LOL.

I wish we could read the police reports, especially the ones regarding the search of Hinrichs' apartment. I think it's suspicious that the search warrant information has been sealed. Hinrichs is already dead, so releasing the information wouldn't jeopardize a criminal charge against him.
It's also suspicious that we haven't seen any photos of the scene of the explosion before it was cleaned up. Photos of that scene might allow us to estimate the power of the explosion. A powerful explosion would indicate that the bomb was designed to kill several people.
A depressed college student who simply wanted to kill himself wouldn't strap on a large home-made explosive charge and walk towards a packed football stadium. It's naive to think this was just a suicide. It is very reasonable to believe Hinrichs was trying to get into the stadium.
Perhaps it's just a coincidence that Hinrichs had a Pakistani roommate. But how do you explain Hinrichs' inquiry about the purchase of ammonium nitrate? And what are the chances that the roommate didn't see, or at least smell, the explosive ingredients.
I wish the FBI would simply say this is an on-going investigation, and they don't want to release any info yet.
The WSJ article and the statements by the O.U. president are an insult to anybody with common sense.

Maybe the MSM and the authorities are offended that we were able to get information and draw our own conclusions. That conclusion was that we are not swallowing the official line.
Not only do they lie, but they accuse us of being the liars. The MSM is throwing down the gauntlet. They are claiming that they tell the truth, and that the New Media is nothing but a bunch of delusional tinfoilers.
The vaunted MSM: Fake but accurate. Put that on their headstone. They are beyond pathetic, they are an utter disgrace, and they deserve the slow death they are enduring. Expect them to whine even more as their death throes continue.

I really don't understand this at all. Look at the way they treated the NY threat this weekend and they were pretty sure that was bogus and then someone tries to pull off a bomb at a packed stadium for reals and they blow it off.

I'm just proud to see a national MSM story that at least mentions the Pakistani roommae, shows the beard, etc. and mentions how QUICKLY Boren and the FBI said "This isn't terrorism."

I agree. Between the lines, this story is not good for Boren and the "move on, nothing to see here" crowd.; especially given the increased credbility of blogs after Rathergate.

You make an excellent point. This writing is so devious-looking that it would make any thinking person wonder--the key here is "thinking person"--so many just soak it up and don't think at all. They sometimes show up on these threads insisting that everything is, indeed, mere coincidence. Or that there is an "innocent" explanation.
Actually, there might be, but I haven't heard it yet.
Not only the FBI, but also president Boren. Boren has jumped out there with statements that, in some cases, seem just plain nuts, and in others, make him look like a liar. A simple "This is an ongoing investigation...etc." would have sufficed, and sounded a hekkuva lot better.
I find the sealing of the search warrant suspicious, too. Usually, they only do that if foul play is involved. If this is a simple suicide, they wouldn't need to do that.

AGGIE football practice was delayed nearly two hours today after a player reported finding an unknown white powdery substance on the practice field.
Coach Fran immediately suspended practice while police and federal investigators were called to investigate.
After a complete analysis, FBI forensic experts determined that the white substance unknown to the players was the goal line.
Practice was resumed after special agents decided the team was unlikely to encounter the substance again.
