Christians Worried About Miers' Beliefs

Here is what I would like to know:

• Why is there such concern over the abortion issue?
  
  Was there never a law passed that demanded revisitation by the Court? And once looked at again, the Judiciary realized the errors made by a previous Court?
  
  The first case to come to mind that fits this scenario:
  
  Brown v. Board of Education
  
  
• It has been stated over and over by liberals that "they want a judge appointed that will enforce laws already on the books," and not strike down old law, or decide "new" law that would potentially limit the rights of any individual.
  
  It has already been established that a crime is committed if a gun-person (gender neutral), harms the unborn of a pregnant woman. Yet, using the same logic, that same woman has the "right" to later abort said unborn if the baby is determined to have, through medical testing, any number of things wrong with it.
  
  
• All these rights that pertain to the woman as covered by Roe give absolutely no rights to the other half of the equation in the pregnancy situation, of which could have never have happened had it not been for the man who impregnated the woman with the seed that developed the whole process of "life" in the first place.
  
  
• So, does the left fear the presence of a Judge that honors the true meaning of life:
  
  Of course they do, but in doing so, they also fear a fair ruling in many areas of the law which deal with conception, where life begins, and who is allowed to end it.
  
  And I think that is what lies behind the shadow of the entire Roe contraversy.

But this is exactly against liberal philosophy, in that they are not strict interpreters of the Constitution.

As society changes, so does it's language, thus to liberals, so does the meanings of the words used in the Constitution.

It all depends on what the meaning of "is" is...

That's right. Her religious beliefs are fine with me. But I fail to see that they automatically transfer into good and responsible jurisprudence. Playing up her beliefs might do well to energize a certain portion of the GOP base to get behind her, but it's also going to energize the other side. And I'm not convinced that we want to go there with this nomination.

You fail to understand this lady's convictions. Her belief system will most certainly transfer to her jurisprudence, because she submits 100% to the ultimate lawgiver.

Now James Dobson is rethinking his endorsement for Harriet Miers. This is not good. Also I will say it again, when guys like Harry Reid and Pat Leahey give the old thumbs up to someone it usually is not for the good of conservatism.

I have not seen one thing indicating Dobson is rethinking his endorsement for Miers. Please provide evidence?

I suspect a lot of the "conservative"opposition comes from members of mainline churches that this concept is foriegn to.

The problem is clearly, precisely, and accurately stated in the article, when someone makes the comment that they don't know if her political beliefs and her "faith" hook up. IMHO, if you genuinely have the Holy Spirit residing within your soul, it's virtually impossible NOT to take God's views into account when you vote. That said, there are those who claim EVANGELICAL Christianity and still support every evil plank in the Democrat party. If you don't believe that, take a quick read of Jimmy Carter's stance:

I think that view is horrendously misguided. For example, Carter, like most liberals, makes the leap across logic when he claims Republicans have no interest in helping the poor, and are therefore unChristian. Hard cold reality is that you do NOT help people by giving them perpetual handouts. You HURT them, you ruin their lives, and you rob others to do it. Liberals, however, virtually never have any interest in the reality of logic. Their lives are run by EMOTION.

Truth: We DON'T know that this nominee will hold conservative views, and there's history there to suggest she does not. I desperately hope to be wrong.

I read the article since my post, and it was more along the lines of he was still seeking the Lord's will on the matter, and only in that respect was there any doubt.

My faith in God is strong, and I know we're seeing a lot of things that must play themselves out; the Bible told us plainly to expect it.

It is still, however, painful to watch.

I would agree with the above. CoC's and Christian churches are consistently pro-life.
