The guy is a totally twisted freak and he's going to fry. Virginia is not California - he will receive due process and justice will be done.

And you would know what they taught their children how?

How can any of us know what the mother taught her daughter? Do kids always listen to our advice? I wish they did but in the real world it doesn't work that way. They think they are smarter than their parents and nothing will ever happen to them. Think back to when you were young - ever do anything that would have freaked your parents out if they had known? Parents can only do so much. Tragic case. My heart breaks for the family.

It has been confirmed since this article...

Mother of missing teen says remains 'most likely my baby's'
By KRISTEN GELINEAU
Associated Press Writer
RICHMOND, Va.

The mother of a missing college student said Thursday she believes a body found in a wooded area is her daughter, who was last seen alive at her dorm Sept. 5.

"I'm sure you can imagine the shock and horror I feel knowing that the body found is most likely my baby's," Taylor Behl's mother, Janet Pelasara, said at a news conference outside of her home in Vienna, Va.

A task force investigating Behl's disappearance found a decomposed body in rural Mathews County on Wednesday _ one month after the 17-year-old Virginia Commonwealth University freshman vanished. The body was found in a grave off a dirt path that led from a county road.

"We certainly believe that the strongest suspect they have already in custody," said Pelasara's attorney, George Peterson.

Ben Fawley, a 38-year-old amateur photographer who was one of the last people to see the teen before she disappeared, is being held without bond on child pornography charges. He had a romantic relationship with the teen, according to his attorney Chris Collins. He has not been charged in Behl's disappearance.

Peterson said the parents of one of a former Fawley girlfriend owns a property next to the area where the remains were found. Photos of that property were found on Fawley's web site, Peterson said.

"As far as I understand, Taylor has never been to that area _ however, as you may know, Ben Fawley has been," Peterson said.

A telephone message left for Collins was not immediately returned.

Investigators on Thursday continued to process the crime scene, which is on private property about 75 miles east of Richmond.

Richmond police spokeswoman Cynthia Price said a positive identification was several days away. But she said Pelasara had made a "a pretty accurate assumption."

Peterson would not confirm reports that clothing found on the body matched the description of the clothes Behl was wearing the day she disappeared, but said the family has "a high degree of confidence that the body found is Taylor's."

The family was planning to make funeral arrangements later Thursday, Peterson said.

Behl has not been seen since she left her dormitory room, taking only her cell phone, a small amount of cash, a student ID and her car keys. She told her roommate she would be back in a few hours.

The teen's car was found two weeks later, less than two miles from her dorm. Her license plates had been replaced with Ohio plates reported stolen several weeks before she disappeared.

Peterson said he believes more than one person might have been involved in Behl's disappearance. Police dogs tracked the scent from Behl's car to the home of a 22-year-old employee of the Village Cafe, where Behl had dinner the night she disappeared, Peterson said. Fawley also worked at the cafe, Peterson said.

"It seems very coincidental and suspicious to me," Peterson said.

The man was charged with cocaine possession after police searched his apartment, Peterson said. He later took a polygraph test, and failed two sections: one in which he said he didn't know Behl, and one in which he said he'd never been in her car, Peterson said.

Fawley was questioned by police in her disappearance and classified as a person of interest at one point during the investigation. He was arraigned last week on 16 counts of possession of child pornography.

Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Mike Jagels said authorities have found at least 30 videos on Fawley's computers depicting children as young as 1 in sexual acts.

Detectives later entered Fawley's home looking for anything that might belong to Behl. They seized more than 70 items, including a box of bones, a machete and a cutting of a box spring bearing a reddish-brown stain, according to a search warrant.

Residents of Mathews said the area where the body was discovered is isolated and difficult to find unless someone is familiar with it.

"Whoever put that body there, it's gotta be somebody local," said Christopher Dehoux, 20, who live is in Moon, less than three miles from where the remains were found. "It's nothing but old trash and garbage. You'd have to be looking awful close to see something."

How come nobody was watching this young chick. She is just another young girl let out onto the street like a piece of meat vulnerable to all kinds of chicanery and skullduggery, all in the name of "women's rights." You don't let young girls run wild and then cry when they turn up as ground beef.

The biggest tragedy here is the repetitive stupidity.

It all sounds very much like her photographer boyfriend was the killer.

An earlier article from the Richmond Times-Dispatch said the police showed to his former girlfriend a picture which she identified as having been taken at a farm owned by his family. The police went there and, in the course of their search, came across a shallow grave on an adjoining piece of land. That is where they found the body. They also found clothes nearby that matched the description of what she was wearing the night she disappeared.

No one is yet arrested "for her murder".

But a 38 yr old man she had had some sort of relationship with prior to ending it with him, is being held on charges of child porn. They found the child porn when they were searching his place for clues on the missing girl. Also, the body was buried on property owned by the family of this guy's former girlfriend, who told the cops the guy had been near the property in the past, to take photographs. (He is a photographer.) Then there is a young guy, different guy, who is more a peer of Taylor's who lives very near where her missing car was found, who is someone she knew.

The cops have been looking at these two, and others who knew her or saw her the day she went missing.

I really think the cops think it was an aquaintance, from what I've seen.

Like I said, Virginia isn't California.
The police are being very tight-lipped about details. Until today, they weren't even confirming the gender of the remains. There are rumors that the body was dismembered and that has not been confirmed. Reporters were asking a lot of specific questions about the condition of the body, where it was found, what lead them to the location, etc. The police are not commenting on any of the details. They're saving that for the trial.

Condolences to her family.

Now what will Greta, Rita and the other evening cable shows do for ratings? I couldn't believe it last night when Headline News had the tag "BREAKING NEWS: teen missing for 31 days." Come on.

Why would a 20-something intern waste her time on a 50-something occupant of the the White House? People do stupid stuff.

There's no explaining some things in this life.

Richmond Police Identify Remains As VCU Student Taylor Behl
by Jack Ryan
Oct 6, 2005

[UPDATE2] The Richmond Police task force assigned to investigate the disappearance of Virginia Commonwealth University freshman Taylor Behl have identified the remains as the young student.

Police had spent the better part of Wednesday investigating a body found in a shallow grave in Mathews County, roughly 75 miles east of Richmond. The 17-year-old teen disappeared one month ago, which has led to a massive investigation between the VCU Police Department, the Richmond Police and the FBI.

In addition, the story has gained national attention on CNN and NBC's "Dateline" despite the fact that another Richmond resident, seventeen-year-old Monica Rose Sharp, was reported missing just days after Behl.

Police crime scene tape blocked access to a dirt path that led off a rural road to part of the crime scene, where investigators worked Wednesday evening underneath a green tent surrounded by orange cones, two vans and a truck.

The sources said Richmond Police Chief Rodney Monroe and other task force investigators flew by State Police helicopter to the scene, where they were joined by investigators from the VCU police department, FBI and other agencies.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch said the property where the grave was discovered was one of a number of "locations of interest" identified by task force investigators through their interviews with people questioned in connection with the disappearance of Behl.

Fox news reports that the body may have been dismembered.

Behl has not been seen since she left her dormitory room exactly one month ago, taking only her cell phone, a small amount of cash, a student ID and her car keys. She told her roommate she would be back in a few hours. She was reported missing two days later.

The teen's car was found two weeks later, less than two miles from her dorm. Her license plates had been replaced with Ohio plates reported stolen several weeks before she disappeared.

Behl graduated spring from James Madison High School in the spring. She had been at VCU for only two weeks before she disappeared, according to published reports.

In addition, seventeen-year-old Monica Rose Sharp is still missing and the police need your help.

If you have any information on the Behl or Sharp disappearance, (or any other crime) the Richmond Police ask you to contact the Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000. Residents do not have to give their names or testify in court. If the information is valuable to the investigation, residents can be rewarded up to $1,000.

Blame belongs nowhere but on the murderer.

I expected that...

Murderers have been around as long as humanity. They will always be with us.

It is precisely BECAUSE murderers are evil that parents OWE it to their children to teach them about the danger. Failure to do so is a failure of parenting.

I'm sorry that offends you. I'm sorry we no longer live in the Garden of Eden, I'm sorry we can't detect murderers in advance. But for Gods sakes you two need to GROW UP!

Failing to teach your children common sense methods of protecting their own safety just because there SHOULDN'T BE ANY MURDERERS, is just plain naive and stupid. And the results are obvious.

Yet another doting mother who never managed to pass on a single clue about the dangers of the real world before turning her wide-eyed daughter loose.

I concur wholeheartedly. When I went to college, it was a Christian college with a curfew and a sign out sheet. I transferred to a more liberal Christian college with no curfew, but guys were not allowed in the dorm rooms. So I didn't feel the need to leave when/if my roommate was otherwise engaged in the room. I had a safe haven. My dorm room.

I would add that this young woman did pretty much whatever she wanted in High School as well.

I would also add that Fathers are *Very Important* to their daughter's safety. My Dad (a fellow freeper) was so careful to remind me of all the dangers out there.
