Not necessarily. LA has a homestead exemption on property assessed below a certain level. You can own a home and not pay any property taxes if it's value falls under that exemption.

Thanks! I didn't know that.

Just saw Nagin saying he has to lay off 3k City employees.

My guess is, since there isn't going to be any $$, many of the
politicians and various employees are not going to care about special precincts.

Are you from LA?

When is the next municipal election?

In New Orleans, there is an election on February 1st for all city office holders.
