Mexico's foreign minister said [...] the causes of the exodus of workers to find better opportunities abroad run very deep.

In other words, my country is a basket case

Walls will not solve migration problem

He's right...so he shouldn't mind if we build the walls then. And for good measure (since the walls won't solve the illegal immigration problem), we'll need to deploy mines, barbed wire, concentrated skunk-scent bombs, stun grenades, pepper pellets and unruly pitbulls on the border. That should do most of the job. Oh yeah...and hefty fines for anyone who hires illegals. That should provide plenty of disincentive.

Funny there is no indignation in Mexico over this hombre's ranting that trumpets how lousy things are in his own land.

I don't get why a Mexican would regard the destruction of Spanish culture by Arabs(who claim to be North Africans)who move to Spain and refuse to assimilate , as acceptable.

Derbez said that "the governments of the world must confront the phenomenon of migration at its roots. In speaking of migration, we must speak about development, the creation of opportunities and about a frontal assault on poverty."

GW is doing his damdest to make sure all of hispanic North and South America gets a better life at our expense.

For starters -- We really need more Border Patrol officers, and our national guard patrolling. Fingerprints and photos for visas. Social Security needs a tough noose tightening too.

For starters, let's start with a change from Border Patrol Officers to Border Guards and change their mission from patrolling to guarding, in its fullest sense!!!

the trouble with the migration thing, is they are running away from their problems. They need to do what many Americans have done, Fight for freedoms including better working conditions.

Coming here to steal ours, makes them living parasites.

He maybe right, but A wall and a 25 foot wide and deep mote might do the trick.

I think we should let nature work for us. Erect concrete walls 50 yards apart, 20' high & slightly tilted toward Mexico, with a smooth surface that can't be grasped for climbing, but install concertina wire on top anyway. Make the concrete panels 35' wide so that 15' is underground to deter tunneling.

Populate the area between the walls with as many prickly pear cacti interspersed with bougainvillea plants that will grow and thrive; for fauna, plenty of rattlesnakes and Mexican cougars, with a substantial grubstake of all kinds of rodents and other prey animals for feeding.

Anyone able to safely make their way through all of that would deserve to be here.

Every sovereign nation has the right to protect it's borders in any way they see fit. Including the use of their military.

If their patrolling, they're guarding. Our patrols, or border guards should be backed up by our military.

Call them what you want, border guards, or officers, or what ever. It shouldn't matter where or how they start, as long as there's a large presence and protection on our borders, namely our Southern border.

The average Mexican (as well as politician) has accepted that, so there's no shock value to such declarations anymore. There's really no expectation of improvement, which makes it all the more imperative that we secure our borders.
