I have to think that President Bush and his advisors had to believe they would replace at least one Supreme Court Justice. And, I would not be surprised if they did not think even further what if we had two, or three? Then worked out a strategy to prepare for that day.
This would include how to deal with a hostile media, and opposition party. Which brings me back to my original post, this administration knew from day one, they would be opposed every step of the way. They needed a way to turn that opposition to their advantage. Some call it Clintons rope a dope where you let your opponent wear themselves out, but with Clinton, he had no other options.
With this administration they let the Left and the Media say and do what ever they want, and go about their business and trust the American people to see and judge for themselves.
I am thinking that they may be hoping the Democrats filibuster the next nominee, and the nuke option is used, and then the President sends the House nomination for every open Judicial seat and force an up down vote on each of them, and failing that, recess appointments.
The Left, The MSM, and The Democrats will all cry foul, but it will not sound any different to the American people then what they have been crying about for the past five years. Chess indeed.
Maybe someday a University will offer a course on Freepology.
I would love to get a Doctorate in Freepology.
We could call our selves Freepologist. Hmmmm, has a nice ring to it.
..same here :D....but, as many Freepologists know, it'll have to be from a Real (unfettered) University...where PCism is openly disdained.
GWB should appoint Judge Luttig or Janice Rogers Brown. Bring it on Chuckie...The Judges issue is of the utmost importance. We were reminded of this again last week by Clinton Judge ACLU Hallerstein.
