This holy iman is being mistreated. He is absolutely correct that muslims did not cause 9-11.

I have long suspected an international conspiracy of mass-murdering Buddhist monks, perhaps assassin Amish, or blood-thirsty Nebraskan Lutherans.

Meanwhile our prisons are full of these IslamoNazi "chaplains" recruiting for al Queda.

Habib, 30, a native of Guyana who studied Islam in Saudi Arabia,

Our friends the Saudis, always gifting us with these mental giants ... definitely the gift that keeps on giving.

It is absurd this guy got hired in the first place.

Ditto!

Don't they (NYFD) screen their people??

Habib's remarks about the attacks came in response to questions about whether he thought firefighters would accept a chaplain who had been educated in Saudi Arabia. He said he did not expect that to be an issue because "I come from a country where you're accustomed to living with people of different ethnic, religious and racial backgrounds."

Yeah, we all know what a bastion of religious tolerance Saudi Arabia is. /sarcasm

Nope.

I'm only surprised at his honesty.

I would expect that the Imam receives a visit from the FBI in the near future ...

http://www.jrn.columbia.edu/studentwork/bronxbeat/2001/050601/muslim0506_01.shtml

According to the above article, the FDNY had only 12 muslims on staff. Both the Islamic Society of the FD along with the Vulcan Society, pushed for the hire of a muslim chaplain.

Both groups protested the hiring of former City Officer, E. McMellon, who was cleared of wrongdoing in the shooting death of the muslim man, Amadou Diallo.

Habib, 30, a native of Guyana who studied Islam in Saudi Arabia...

And...

Habib, 30, a soft-spoken man who immigrated to New York in July 2000 after spending six years in Saudi Arabia getting a degree in Islamic theology and law. "

Did he come from Jonestown?

Jim Jones was sooo short-sighted.

Maybe, but do you deny the statements, "Stuck on Stupid" and "It's Bush's Fault", are rooted in Truth?

No. Do you deny the fact that it is annoying and a waste of bandwidth? It's fun when it's dropped in the context of a complete thought, but wading thru endless posts of "(Fill in the blank) is stuck on stupid" starts seeming a little childish.

But that's just my opinion.

You read my entire comment, correct? Then from that you may deduce I offered a Defense of its usefulness, in its constant repetition, in the larger scheme of politics. Which would, by default, answer your question of whether I considered it a waste of bandwidth.

In any event yours and my opinions are irrelevant. This is not our site, it'll continue at Robinson's and the admins will.

How dumb could he be ...

Man. Talk about preaching to the wrong choir. Goodbye to Imam Intikab Habib, who quickly quit his new gig as a Fire Department chaplain yesterday after his private 9/11 views became publicly known.
Seems that the Saudi-educated cleric - hired to minister to a department still mourning the loss of 343 of its members at the World Trade Center - does not believe that the twin towers were brought down by 19 Islamic skyjackers and thinks there must have been some broader "conspiracy" at work. Or so he told Newsday.

Gulp, went the red-faced FDNY brass who had hired this guy, unaware of his extremist leanings. And fast out the door the imam went - fortunately for him, before the rank-and-file laddies heard of this.

As with the Kennedy assassination, still abounding every whichaway these decades later with grassy-knoll theorists of every stripe, 9/11 has spawned an entire industry of, shall we say, skeptics. Some Americans are convinced there is not a shred of physical evidence that any jetliner ever crashed into the Pentagon, that, as with the bogus 1969 moon landing, it was all done with smoke and mirrors and holograms or something.

But there is also abroad in the Muslim world a dead certainty that 9/11 was personally orchestrated by President Bush, or by the Mossad, or by Frosty the Snowman, or by Betty Crocker, take your pick. And here was an example of such thinking right around the corner in Queens, where Habib worked for five years at a private Islamic school. Frightening.

Well, there's always room in this open society for nutty ideas. So the imam is welcome to his views. Let him write a book. Let him do the talk shows. But let him not sit on the public payroll, tending to the spiritual needs of New York City firefighters who watched their comrades die that terrible morning. This is just, in a word, wrong.

Which was grasped yesterday by Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta, who, accepting Habib's resignation, deemed him "unable to effectively serve in the role he was appointed to." Which is bureaucratspeak for, "Good God, get him out of here fast." Have a nice day, imam.
