Season series only matters if Cleveland doesn't get the wild card. But with Cleveland having a good chance still to sweep their weekend series AND if Boston winds 2/3 then the Yanks and Boston play Monday.

Clevland has an "easy" series this weekend

They had an "easy" series against Tampa Bay, how did that work out?

SEPARATE THREAD FOR AL dISCUSSION:

NY Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians- It all comes down to the last 3 games (or is that 4)

...Boston, Cleveland and New York all would finish at 95-67, necessitating the first double tiebreaker playoff in major league history.

But what is Boston and New York's record against each other for the year? Unless they wind up tied in their season series, there shouldn't be a tie-breaker. That's why there can't be a tie-breaker between Cleveland and Chicago. If Cleveland sweeps them (I hope) this weekend, their overall record will be equal, but Chicago beat the Sox (pun intended) off the Indians during the season. Therefore the Indians can't touch them for the division title.

Hard to believe that the Yanks and the Bosox would have identical records with each other too. Of course, it's possible, but it sure must be driving the odds-makers crazy.

Tampa Bay will be a force to be reckoned with in the next couple years. I hated to see them coming to town this last week of the season. And my fears were born out. I wanted to strike even more fear in the eyes of the Chisox. But I think they're concerned enough to be beaten this weekend.

The national media had a vested interest in us losing. None of them picked the Sox to finish better than 2nd in the division. Jeff Brantley of ESPN stands out as the media's chief punk along with Gammons, Berman, Reynolds, etc...

As far as cockiness, I didn't hear much in the last three weeks, but surely you can allow some trash talk from any team with a 15 game lead in the division.
