Why do you have such a vendetta against Romney?

When a group of people such as you and Pondman -- and Romney himself -- try to hide or excuse Romney's liberalism and promote him for president, of all things, I see it as important to point out the plain facts of Romney's repeated advocacy of liberal social positions.

Mitt Romney is pro-abortion. FACT

Mitt Romney is pro-gay. FACT

Mitt Romney is anti-gun. FACT

And while it pisses off psychophants like you, who have a bizarre desire to promote this flip-flopping spineless John Kerry wannabe, that's your problem. Facts are facts.

And by the way, I don't think "Romney's really a conservative! He's just been lying to get elected!" is a great rallying cry.

I would love to see Bush/Coleman

Which Bush? Jeb? Afraid not. I'm not voting for someone led by imaginary ancient Chinese warriors

Considering that even the Democrats are rushing to get photo ops with hunting rifles, I see no reason why Romney would do anything but follow the policy that has benefited and defined Republicans for so long. His family's from Michigan, this is not a gun-shy state.

Mitt Romney is anti-abortion. FACT.

Mitt Romney is pro-marriage. FACT.

Hmm, this is a fun way to "convince" someone of your point of view. Convinced yet?

"Facts are facts."

And indeed, I've pointed repeatedly to his record in the fight against same-sex marriage in Massachusetts, and you're the one who ignores what he has said and done as Governor because it undermines your point. What he is doing NOW, as petitions are getting signed.

Google Romney and emergency contraception, too.

Believe what you want, but stating "FACT" in all-caps does not count as justification.

As Louisiana Sen. John Breaux said of Joe Lieberman, "I think people don't care so much where [Sen. Lieberman] goes to church on Sunday

Breaux actually said that? LOL! Reminds me of a sappy Lifetime movie where a rich yuppie couple were interviewing a poor uneducated trailer park gal to be their surrogate mother. Knowing she came from a Bible-belt area, Mrs. Yuppie gently asked "We're Jewish; would you be comforatble with the baby being raised as a Jew?" "Oh, that doesn't matter," replied trailer park gal cheerfully, "I don't care what your religion is, just as long you celebrate Christmas and Easter -- those are so nice for children," having no idea that any religion existed that didn't celebrate these holidays. As the movie progressed, it became clear that trailer park gal had much more solid character than the yuppies, despite being ultra-fuzzy in the facts department.

Now hear this once and for all, Romney is NOT pro gay, he has actively spoken out against it, has tried to change things here in MA but due to a demonicRAT legislature, his hands are tied. Romney is AGAINST gays.

Here's a new tagline for you:

"I don't think we should deny people rights to a civil union" - George W. Bush, ABC News October 26, 2004

By rejecting the civil unions amendment and working to pass an initative that would define marriage as one man and one woman without civil unions, Mitt Romney is more conservative on gay marriage than President Bush.

FACT.

August 1994 was an eternity ago in politics. Romney sure wasn't ready to become President then, and lest we forget, he was running against Ted Kennedy for Senate in a state that is anti-2A.

He always talks like that. It takes some getting used to, but you learn to screen out the smoke of obnoxiousness he throws up.

Except that Mitt is anti-abortion, anti-gay and pro-gun. How does your fantasy match?

I am an active Mormon, but I don't feel Mitt is the guy we need in there right now. We NEED a fiscal conservative in there that will reduce the size of Government. That is not him. And his religion would truly be a liability at the National level. Remember when he almost unseated Teddy? The campaign was so negative, I think it set the high-water mark on campaign mudslinging.

Pro Gay. Yes. As a matter of fact, he's appointed several sodomite Democrats to the bench here in the Bay State.

No, instead we'll point out he's appointed several gay Democrats to life tenure judgeships.

His "candidacy" played no role, at least not per any LDS or objective history I've ever read (I don't bother reading the rantings of the everybody's-a-cult-but-us crowd).

From http://www.lds-mormon.com/jsmith.shtml :

In 1844 a major schism occurred among the Mormons of Nauvoo which resulted directly from Joseph's proposals of marriage to the wives of several leaders of the church. The husbands who felt wronged by their prophet challenged Joseph's leadership of the church, bought a printing press, and issued a dissident Mormon newspaper with editorials attacking Joseph's policies.

Joseph ordered his followers to destroy the printing press of his opponents. After the press was wrecked, the governor of Illinois charged Joseph with violating the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States, and ordered his arrest. The state militia marched to Nauvoo and took Joseph into custody.

The governor did not send the militia because, he expected mass resistance by the Mormons to Joseph's own protection. The governor feared that, if peace officers tried to conduct Joseph to jail, gentile mobs would overwhelm the lawmen in order to lynch Joseph.

The militia conducted Joseph to the jail in Carthage, Illinois, and locked him up with other loyal Mormon leaders in a cell on the second floor. The militia was stationed outside the jail to guard it.

On the second day of Joseph's imprisonment, other militiamen who had been dismissed by the governor, marched into Carthage. Their faces were painted to conceal their identities. They were obviously about to commit some mayhem.

When the disguised militiamen approached the jail, the guards on duty did nothing to impede their progress. As they mounted the steps of the jail, the vigilantes fired several shots. Joseph, who had a six-shooter, opened fire on the first vigilantes to reach the second floor. He wounded several of the attackers: then his pistol was emptied.

As the vigilantes came on unopposed, Joseph ran for a window. As he straddled the window sill he was shot from behind by vigilantes inside the jail. At the same time, he was shot by their comrades on the ground below. Calling out, "Oh, my God!" Joseph fell to the ground. He was still alive when he hit the earth. Vigilantes standing over him put several more shots into him, ending his life at age thirty-eight.
