I do see your point. LOL! Retrieving ducks as a prerequisite for buying a lab. My Harm's mother, if you remember, is a chocolate lab. His daddy was half Alaskan Malamute/half Siberian Husky. Harm retrieves his stuffed squeaky toys, but he hates water! LOL! The only thing lab about him are his ears.
Just blasted off 5 e-mails. Will try to do more later.
Thanks for posting all that info.--I don't know how and count on others much smarter than me to do so!
Couldn't help myself.
Sent another one, #6, to Sean H. too.
JJ,
I got a very nice, detailed response from Ms. Irene Baltrusaitis, Communications Director with the city of Independence.
I don't know how to post the letter here for all to read but the upshot was: the city was not involved with the tranfer of Shuma to the private citizen (and ultimately, Ms. Nevills)therefore, it is a civil matter. They (the city) have no legal interest to pursue.
I guess the pressure has to be from the public sector.

Ping to above post
May God Bless Julie Draper .
as for Lynn Nevills well.....ya' know.
!I have joined this forum just because of this story, I live north of Columbus Ohio and it has made our news. I have been outraged at the callousness of this soulless woman. It is not JUST that she refuses to give HIS pet back it is her ultimate act of kicking another suffering AMERICAN when the are truly down.....the agony of the decision he made had to haunt him, but what could he do?? It's that she has chosen to committ this atrocity to somebody who has endured the grief and devestation he has and what about HIS children's feelings, those poor kids have suffered?? heartbreaking! I can't download the "resolved" clip but I am assuming the puppy in the picture is from Julie Draper... god bless her, still I feel this is NOT over, what of 14 year old Shuma and her feelings wrenched from everything she knows and forced live her final time with this evil witch, will she care and comfort Shuma properly as she fails, will she feel the real love at the end, will Shuma feel real love and comfort with Nevill at the end, doubtful, Nevill has shown she doesn't know the concept of love or compassion for another....This just isn't over..... this woman must be shamed into doing the right thing people of Independence of Missouri, hell everywhere, don't let up!!!
I have to reply to what Hair of the Dog said yeaterday about it NOT being a grieving problem for Shuma......do not kid yourself that dog is grieving, she has been taken from her master of 14 years, she is with strangers she feels abandoned, she hurts, she's sad!! And with a woman of this moral caliber can this truly be a loving home?? Animals grieve it's not just a known "Scientific" fact, it is a fact long witnessed by man.
I respect what you said about her being safe, but lord, I feel for that dog. if there were any justice.....
Thanks for joining this forum :)
Shuma is 14 months..not 14 years .

Ya, I got that correct info. after I wrote that. That was one of the reasons I was pissed, taking an old dog for her master.....still taking a young dog for her master is not cool either.....Thanx, BV40
