DAMN! Where is a good girl going to go now to find a relatively harmless guy in town for business with a few hundred dollar bills to burn?

She works hard for the money, you know!

Ok, being almost as far west as I can be, you forced me to do a little NY info research.

What's the inside deal on Bratton and Guilliani?

Rudy had good taste in cops. He hired a string of really genius cops, like Bratton and Ray Kelly and let them go to town. Bratton's idea was that if you enforce the small laws, it sends a signal to the bad guys that law breakers won't be tolerated. They also put cops back on the street, actually walking beats in some areas.

They combined this with tracking crime patterns by precinct, so many author thefts, so many rapes, etc. etc. and had commanders come in for weekly meetings to compare notes. It allowed them to more effectively target problem areas.

The other thing was -- crack hit. Murder rates were up in the 2000+ a year. Then basically burned itself out when the bad guys shot each other -- self cleaning oven phenomenon.

Anyway, when all this took off and proved successful, Rudy dumped Bratton and took the credit.

The thing that people outside NYC don't realize about Rudy is that he's a prosecutor at heart. He sees conflict and enemies. And he lives for the fight, and it doesn't much matter what kind of fight it is.

Rudy has an "R" behind his name. Whether he agrees with Hitlery or not, that simple fact means that the media will be against him. We waste too much time trying to be liked by the presstitutes anyway.

If Guliani gets the nomination, the GOP will cease to exist. The principled conservatives will walk. The Party deserves no better.

Here's some info on it. This was pretty hot stuff back in the 1990s. Nobody had ever seen anything like it.

If we don't deal with the moral and economic corruption in America, it will destroy us before the terrorists have the time.

'Bratton' is a bad word in Casa Giulliani, son! ;-) Anyway, when all this took off and proved successful, Rudy dumped Bratton and took the credit.

Hmmm...You know, I may not be from NY, but I am sure smart enough to see a good fight a comin' a mile away.

So, thanks for the information gentlemen...It was helpful from you both.

And on that note, I am gonna step out and watch. This could be fun. ; )

Didn't he also switch from RAT to Pubbie because Dinkins had the RAT nomination sewn up. It seems to me that Rudy is a Republican out of convenience.

Bratton did a good job.

The guy who should be running for mayor is Kelly.

Thanks, I did find a bio on the guy. I am assuming he is a dem?

Either way, results mattered and lack of resources where not a legitimate excuse.

That is the way everyone should do their jobs.

Bratton? I think he's probably a right leaning dem or a left leaning republican.

The other guy Rudy hired/promoted was Jack Maple, another genius cop and a little nuts. He pioneered (and loved) the technique of pretending to be a drunk guy on the subway and waiting for muggers to make their move. I believe he died not too long ago.

It does seem that Rudy had a knack for excellent law enforcement. Experience is a wonderful thing.
