To an extent this is an identity war she and her cohorts did not commit any offense in going after the enemy's identities. Quite the opposite. I'd give her a small medal instead.

I'm so happy that no one gave her any deference to the fact that she's a woman and also a young mother. What went on really wasn't anything more than is depicted in most movies for the young and restless but when one is in the military, there is a different code of ethics - period. No exceptions even when dealing with blood thirsty killers and when that line is crossed, the guilty will be punished.
If they were the same ASVAB tests that I took in the 70's, a fifth grader, educated in the 50's, 60's, and early 70's could pass them. Teachers and School districts then required more from their students. And were prepared to "leave back" students if they did not meet certain levels. But there was a break from this practice, when the level of education was downgraded, starting in the mid 70's, as the "grades are not important" teachers were introduced into the school systems.
When I went into the "volunteer army", in the 70's, there was no requirement to have a H.S. diploma. As time went by, there was a minimum of a GED or H.S. diploma. Later, a GED, would not be accepted, unless you could show that you took some college. I wonder, if she entered the Reserves with a H.S. diploma. I guess I would wonder, and ask the ones who said that she had a "learning disabilities", "how did she graduated High School?" If she had a "documented" history of learning disabilities, she needed to report that to her recruiter when she enlisted. She might have not been allowed to enlist, and would not be in the position she is now. So did she lie do the recruiter? If there was no history, did the school not know of her problems, or better yet, didn't care. They just moved her through the school system. Will they admit that the education system where she grew up, failed her?
Maybe that is why there is a need for the "No Child Left Behind" program. Requiring students to show that they have meet some standards. Because teachers and school district that feel that all students should be on a "level playing field". Are unwilling to properly grade their students. I am always amused when CEO's of big corporations, complain that the students coming out the many US high schools, do not have the skills when they graduate. That they can be used in their companies.

The ASVAB's have changed quite a bit from your time...they are much harder...that is why I wonder how she passed them....even my 1sg hubby questions this.

Actually, I believe she's being made an example. By politically embarassing her CiC, she (and others) endangered public and congressional support for our initiatives in Iraq and, by extension, our national security in an age of terrorism. No matter what the hijinks of college girls in frat houses, they do not have these effects. Nor are college girls in frat houses subject to the oath taken by anybody in uniform or to the UCMJ, whose provisions definitely identify LE as a criminal.
I'll agree with you that Karpinski should be turning BFRs into LFRs too. However, I will say this - General officers don't leave the service to become shift managers at Wal Mart. They become boardmembers of large corporations, political figures, etc. The demotion and being retired in disgrace pretty much ruined any chance Karpinski had of getting a deal like that.
Like I said, I still think she should be turning BFRs into LFRs.

It will be interesting to see how many people feel Ms.Englund deserved a draconian prison sentence ten years from now.
I guess the legal strategy of getting only officers on her jury didn't pan out. Boo-hoo.
